Thanks Crumplezone. An excellent review and enjoyable read. You should start a review site  While i'm not fussed about skins as i like to add my own anyway, you have sold me on the quality of the model and sound. I think i'll be buying one :D

Just had a run from Mottram to Penistone and I have to say well done to all involved. A fine looking, sounding & handling loco. :D

Can't wait to see the price of it.
Thanks Rob. Its nice to know that somebody still uses my models :)

There is actually a faint damper glow, but it's linked to the front damper so its more optional than compulsory ( since the front damper doesn't actually affect the damper opening ). Cheers for the review Crumplezone, a rather well written and interesting review :)

Disappointed at the stingey 4 scenarios, one of which is a 10 minute introduction to the loco, which really means 3 scenarios.

Also, not sure if i'm doing something wrong, but once you have the loco up to speed with some inertia behind it... it's nigh on impossible to stop... even at 100% brake from 20mph... it just doesn't slow down... i over-ran one stop by about a mile, lol  it is an old loco, so i guess that's probably accurate.

Overall, it looks beautiful, and (as expected Matt) sounds fantastic 8)

I have to also give a quick mention to the Woodhead route... it's completely stunning and i can't believe i didn't buy it sooner
Smegged the intro scenario by confusedly overshooting Dinting as far as the first signal so had to go all the way back hehe, then when I finally got trundling along the long siding at the other end of the goods siding, promptly rolled straight into the buffers and buckled my train hehe

Well it is enjoyable indeed, added to my list of 'if they'd only been available when I was making XYZ, but whatever - I have 'em now' addons :)

Noticed a few other bits, I think based on fire mass or level the chuff smoke is directly effected and in turn changes colour, was running the 2nd scenario, the 90min one I think it was and part way through climbing gradients and hitting around 69% firemass according to the HUD the chuff smoke changed to black when it had been grey before which is quite a nice touch.

Well I have a short vid, its not excellent, youtube seems to have originally made it dark after uploading then it decided to "fix" the issue and its now dayo glow, but atleast you can hear the sounds the O4 makes, you'll also have to excuse my camera switching and driving errors :drinking: Not 100% sure if it'll show the video yet since apparently its removing the dayo glow effect..but what the hey :o

They were fantastic models when you first released them, they are still fantastic models today and have stood the test of time incredibly well. Thank you again! :D

For crumplezone - Does yours not spew cinders?

For people unable to stop - have you tried using the brake van handbrake via the F4 Coupling view? Surely that's what it's there for. It's still not easy to stop, by the way, but it does improve the situation. :)

Yup it spews cinders at 100%, forgot to mention that and yes, I overshot on the intro scenario to, doesn't quite help that / isn't hotkey'ed to the handbrake and you have to go through the UI...which is normally after you realise the handbrake hadn't applied due to the key press not being sync'ed

Its quite enjoyable thus far and I'm finishing up on the Night Freight scenario which has you going to Wath with a 40 wagon load with a banker on the back, you got rain coming down, its muggy and dark and its got the entire atmosphere of what Woodhead and the pennines is right at the start of the scenario and its a pretty hard train to get up to speed to. Approaching woodhead tunnel was great to, powering along up the gradient with black smoke and cinders roaring out the funnel and creeping up to 25mph, directed over to the left old tunnel bore...

There is a account of a Robinson O4 crew in the book "An illustrated history of the Woodhead Route" which tells the tale of a crew who had to spend up to 8 mins covering the Woodhead tunnel in smouldering conditions with a cloth over their mouths while trying to peer through the smoke and steam blasting out of the O4..I have to say that moment was quite litterally given to me when entering the old tunnel. With the EFX effect in tow, the overwhelming sound of the inside of the cab, the darkness, the steam coming off the safetly valve and the engine roaring away at full regulator trying to get some speed through the tunnel I spent a good solid 6-7mins powering through the 3mile tunnel. Now that was a magic moment, its not often I can the simulator can give a near on realism effect but that was certainly one of them, it helps to a degree to have read the short tale of the engine crew, but just remembering that myself and plowing through the tunnel it was full immersion.

Not often it happens, but fun when it does.

It looks like there is a black V2 with the O4 pack and the loco break is working.

Is there 4 scenarios and an intro as the manual suggests?
or
3 scenarios and an intro as has been mentioned on this thread?

Give it a headlight and it's pretty much a NSWGR D50 Standard Goods loco

That's a bit of a stretch, but these locos did work in the coalfields of Victoria.

All we need is that maitland route...

The manual details 4 scenarios plus the Robinson O4 intro but I only got 3 plus the intro. The Openshaw Shunting is missing from the download. Will there be an update through Steam to rectify this omission? I doubt a verify cache is going to solve this,

Regards, John.
