I'm liking TS2013's new features and all that, but I'm not impressed by the fact that RSC took away the frames per second locks, which I personally needed so that my FPS didn't go all skew-lally on me. Sure enough, playing TS2013, they are indeed going skew-lally and jumping all over the place because I have no FPS lock. I've fiddeled with the settings and all the usual stuff, but have hit a dead end. Does anybody know of a way to lock the FPS, whether it be a patch or modification to/for the core program, or a program that runs in the background behind RW while I'm playing, anything to stop it juttering about, it does my head in. I'd like to see the locks back personally. My PC is more than powerful enough to play it, with 8GB and Quad core to say but the least I think it's powerful enough. Can anybody help me out here?

Tutorial: Searching a forum

1. Click 'Advanced search' button at top right of screen.
2. Type in what you want to search.
3. Scroll down this page (and use other search result pages) until you find what you want.
4. If necessary, click on the blue link with the topic title and this will magically open said topic.

This has been raised by several of us post update. I've applied the command line to 2 computers and it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference so good luck. I, too, woould like to see the fps selectable in game. Can't bee too difficult for the RSC team.

The FPS lock does work as do lots of other available command line switches.
Here is an example of the instruction in the Start in: box after right clicking properties on your Railworks shortcut.

"D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\RailWorks.exe" -FPSLimit=40

Obviously people will have Railworks installed at different locations but it should look like the above example from Steam onwards, with the exception you can must choose your own frame limit. I set mine to 40, which works fine. Note the space between .exe" and FPSLimit=40 so .exe" -FPSLimit=40. If there is no space the command will not work. Also there must not be any inverted commas around -FPSLimit=40. The inverted commas must remain closed after exe".

Go to your TS2013 directory and copy "RailWorks.exe" and paste to desktop or wherever. Then edit the "Target" box in the properties and add the command line.

hi, ...

Mouse Right Click on Railworks in Steam Game Library and properties for Start Option:
-SkipIntros -FPSLimit=27 (FPS what you want)

TS2013runs best with an odd number in the FPS.

I have tried each and every suggestion and the limiter is having no effect at all.

I am running Windows 7 (64bit).

Are you running Steam on or off line?

Maybe I am missing something but I just add the command line arguments I want to the steam "Launch Options" for that game.

I use "-FPSLimit=30 -SkipIntros" which works perfectly. Just launch the game in steam as per normal and FPS limited to 30 and intros are exited automatically when the Main Menu is ready for me to use.

I have seen cases where the "-" at the start of each option is not correct when copying and pasting from the internet. Make sure you type it in on the Keyboard. Some browsers / web sites encode the "-" (minus character) differently so it looks the same but is actually a different character which RailWorks ignores (making the options fail top work).

Everyone knows the stuttering when playing with TS2013.
Since I have the standing in the boot options, nothing more jerky.
27 frames fast enough for me for a real image in the game.

All graphics options are set to maximum settings.
And AAAliasing = 2 x 2 SAA
It only works if one does not use even numbers such as, 2,4,6,8,12,14,16,18,20, ect ..
always odd numbers ... 3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17,19,21 ect.
Vertikel Sycn is =off in Graphiccard Driver.

For me, since everything runs smoothly.

The limiter does indeed work if done correctly. By no effect at all, do you mean the FPS is limited to the number you set? The limiter works by capping FPS at the number you tell it to cap it at. It certainly won't raise FPS to that number. If you set the limit at 30 and then hit shift-z and see a FPS of 71, then it's not working and you didn't enter the switch correctly. If you set it at 30 and hit shift-z and see a FPS of 18, then it could very well be working. It's just that your FPS is too low for the limiter to kick in. If you set it at 30, as I do, and get 29 mostly, then it's doing its job just right, and you'll probably have a much less stuttery experience in the sim.

Thought I was the only one getting choppier performance since the upgrade, and I've found FPSLimit essential to fix it. But I'm also getting tearing, which I didn't see in TS2012. Enabling "wait for vertical refresh" in my Catalyst settings either isn't fixing it or isn't taking effect in the game.
