Editing Class 377 track joint sound interval

Post by Inthernet »

I remember someone (most likely gypbrc) posting instructions onto how to reduce the amount of track joint sounds you hear on the Class 377. Unfortunately, I've verified cache and get the default sound spam. Even worse I've tried searching the forums for the post in question but to no avail. All I remember is editing one parameter of a .bin file to increase the distance travelled before the sound re-occurs.

Will anyone be kind enough to post the instructions again?

I think you want to edit the route rather than the rolling stock model. In your case I assume it's London-Brighton. I copied this from a post from UKTS (I think), and my apologies to the poster as I can't find the thread it came from. Anyway, try this:

Code: Select all

For those who aren't fans of hearing the clunk-clunk bogie sounds every 30 seconds; using RWTools, go to:

Assets\RSC\BrightonMainLine\Audio\RailNetwork\TrackBedRumble\Standard_Ballast01.bin

and change the value in DistancebetweenJoints to something large like 5000 (for CWR).

[I changed this from 100 to 1000]

Do the same for
Assets\RSC\BrightonMainLine\Audio\RailNetwork\TrackBedRumble\Standard_Ballast02.bin

[I changed this from 300 to 3000]

You should then get the clunk-clunk when you pass over pointwork only (most of the time).

Thank you very much, this was exactly what I was looking for!
