Re: Great Central Railway Version 2 - Release Thread
Matt,
Don't despair. Yours is not the only third-party route that has had problems since the TS2013 update. It appears something fundamental has been changed and for some reason affects some users and not others. I'm sure someone will figure it out.
Regards,
Bob.

Matt, i think maybe you need to find out which of us had GCRv1 already installed.92212 wrote:Boy this is frustrating!! How can it work perfectly for some but not for others? Why do some have missing bits when I know they're in the upload? This sim drives me nuts!!!![]()

Matt
Those people with Loco issues should perhaps try installing the original version first, then patch the new version over it as i suggested before.
Those still with missing signals should double check they have installed all the assets that were requested to - it's quite an extensive list.
I don't think this is a TS2013 issue myself - the route works fine, and i had a good look through it tonight, and can't see anything obviously wrong/missing... However it should be noted i did already (and still) have GCRv1 installed, which passed 100% in RWTools (zero missing assets, etc).... I installed all GCRv2 assets and route files via Windows drag/drop with copy/replace (by unzipping it from the .rwp file).... in many ways like a big patch.... So there's a high chance anything missing from your files (such as the Black 5 cab textures, or name badges), i already still have on my computer - Hence i'm not seeing the issues others are having.
Hope that helps.
- Adam
PS - The only issue i ever had with GCRv1 was the Hall Loco, as it's no longer available to buy (I'm new to all this and sadly missed the chance to ever buy it)... I had to use RWTools to replace it with the one from Falmouth Branchline
Why couldn't the steam loco sit down? - Because he had a tender behind.

Re: Great Central Railway Version 2 - Release Thread
Evening everyone,
I'm sure that I've installed everything needed to run the scenario supplied with the route, but I have an error relating to missing markers for the dining train?
Any ideas folks?
Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

Re: Great Central Railway Version 2 - Release Thread
I've been looking forward to this route for quite a while now! But alas due to issues in this thread I may have to wait a while to see if stuff gets resolved. I have all the required payware except the Jubilee however

Re: Great Central Railway Version 2 - Release Thread
I had similar issues with the "missing marker" error for the Dining Train, but after reinstalling the Just Trains LNER A4, and then reinstalling the GCR v2 Route.....all is now well!
Many thanks for this fine route. I could never get v1 to work correctly.
I'm off to find The Alderman lurking in the shed at Loughborough now.
Cheers

Took the dive! Installed all the files and i've had no problems at all
.
Except the class47 cabs being a mess. I recall this problem a while ago though. Not sure how to fix it!

Does anyone else have the problem where at Loughbrough sheds the middle track has two tracks and any engine derails when it goes over a certain part of it.

Re: Great Central Railway Version 2 - Release Thread
No problems with the route, signals etc, working fine. A brilliant route, wires on the pylons too! lovely
I Enjoyed running the free roam, but can`t get the "Introduction" scenario to run. I have everything except the LNER A4. I tried swapping out the observation car but still get the "missing marker" error. I already own the JT A4 Pacific so I can't justify paying out another 12 quid for essentially the same product, JT are having a laugh, it should at least be half price for an "Add-On".
I'm looking forward to other scenarios for this lovely route tho.
Thanks
Dave

Re: Great Central Railway Version 2 - Release Thread
Eureka!!!
Before today I have not been able to run anything on GCR2 without getting a SBHH. That puzzled me because other people can obviously run it. So I wondered what was different about my installation. Permissions issues were suggested since I’m running W7 64bit and had Steam in the Program Files (x86) folder. So I moved Steam etc. into its own folder but that didn’t help.
Then I remembered that I’d had a similar problem with another route prior to the TS2013 update, so I tried what worked for that route.
Note that running the route and the scenarios through RW_Tools did not identify any missing content.
I used RW_Tools to produce a list of the shapes used by the route and then used Excel to reduce it to a list of Provider/Product (P/P) combinations. I’ll attach that list at the end of this post.
Then I had a look at the P/P listing for the route using RW_Tools (Route Building Tools | Edit Providers). The first thing that I got was (9 of them, one at a time) the P/Ps that were evidently selected in the route but that I didn’t have. They were things like RSC\Class47Pak01 and DazDude\Tunnels.
Comparing the list of the P/Ps used that I had created with the list with Xs in RW_Tools, I found that there were some that were selected but not used and some that were used but not selected. I changed the Xs so that the lists were both the same and pressed the Update button.
With fingers crossed, I tried running the included free roam scenario. It actually started (i.e. I didn’t get and SBHH) but the screen was black with a few puffs of smoke wandering around. I opened it in the editor, changed the weather and when I hit the Play button I could actually see everything. WOW. I then did the same thing for the included Standard scenario and, after changing the weather, it ran too.
I suspect the reason I couldn’t run the route was because of the missing P/Ps (RSC\Class47Pak01 etc.) and that the people who can run the route must have all of them.

Re: Great Central Railway Version 2 - Release Thread
Pleased to hear you've had some success Bob, I'l now climb out of the hole I dug for myself---with your 'permission' of course!
Going by your findings though, it would seem apparant that the problems weren't due to TS2013 being more fragile, but rather because of RSC's tightening of the code which unfortunately has exposed 'weaknesses' in how 3rd party creators may have compiled their .bin files. Of course prior to TS2013 this wasn't an issue, so there's no suggestion of laying blame at anyones feet, but I feel we'll all have to be double checking that all T's are crossed and all the dots are in place over the I's from now on.

Re: Great Central Railway Version 2 - Release Thread
Great new version of this route, Matt. Love that Black 5 sound of 45305
. However the introduction (Taster) scenario works fine in TS 2012 but continues to crash in TS 2013, either sometime during the game or when saving progress. I have no clue why.
Looking at what gptech wrote in the post before this one, it appears to confirm why I have no problems in TS 2012 but have in TS 2013. Btw the scenario is the only problem I have seen so far. I too had GCR V1 installed before I installed GCR V2 and had no issues with 45305 or missing signals etc. I hope solutions will be found for these problems soon.

Jos,
Have you tried the process I outlined above. I'd be interested to know whether it solves your problems as well.

Try RW_Tools - Check Route, tick OK when asked if you want to see list of Shapes used, then click the button 'List Providers & Products Used' this will bring up a list of those Providers and Products used in your route. Compare it with your RouteProperties.xml for the route in question and edit as necessary.
