An 86 on a mail train might not be too unprototypical, I've seen a couple of photos of 90s on the ECML with mail trains.jimmyshand wrote:In fact from my limited knowledge of ECML traction then I don't think we have a single prototypical item? 86, Pendolino are exclusively WCML.

I think CR missed a trick here by not including the IC225. I don't think RSC will be producing many if any standalone rolling stock items for TS2013. I think the only 91 we will see from RSC will be part of their own ECML expansion pack.

I agree, I purchased the route because I'm bored of playing Newcastle - York modern. I live on the ECML and very interested in driving along the route. Overall, I am happy with CR ECML but I do feel that a 225 would have made me even more happy!

True to a point but RSC do make exceedingly good routes and they do have the manpower resource to get things from concept to release pretty darn quickly. Most of the 3rd party devs in this country are very small companies or even one-man bands, so although their quality may be very high, quantity sadly is not.smarty2 wrote:Personally I would prefer RSC to keep the Americans happy as long as they like and allow the likes of JT and Waggonz etc to keep on producing infinitely better models than RSC can obviously do!
I have to confess, I am a DLC junkie and new stuff is what keeps me engaged, but it has to be UK content, not interested in US or German trains in the slightest. For the first time in ages I'm finding myself looking blankly at the start menu and not knowing which route to choose, not really feeling the same eagerness to drive as I was before. Dare I say I'm becoming........... bored of Railworks?
Desperately need a substantial new UK route to re-ignite the flame. The new Port Road would do it, where the heck is it??

I'd be happy if RSC just re-visited some of the older stock first to make them more compatible, i.e TSX mode, and dare I say a passenger view for the DMU 101 which we were promised years ago?

I bought this route because I needed something better to play rather than the Brighton ML.
However, having bought it and looked at it, I just can't help thinking that there is a lack of scenarios with it. All the trains on the route on all scenarios appear to be EC HSTs which is completely unrealistic to the present day because I've been to Peterborough and not one of the HST sets were Fully Liveried! I don't even think EC have started re-liverying on the Coaches yet!
I'm thinking of creating a few scenarios on this route including;
Grantham - Peterborough - East Midlands Trains C158
Peterborough - Grantham - East Midlands Trains C158+153
Peterborough - Newark & RTN - DRS - Class 20
Grantham - Peterborough - East Coast C91
Let me know what you think.
I'm not sure why everyone is saying there is a need for a IC225, I have one although there are no sounds when it pulls off, the DVT and MK4 coaches work.

Have to say, I thoroughly enjoy the modern version, having bought Part 1 earlier this year, I think it's a brilliant route (never travelled on this section of the ECML before) so don't know how true it is to real life, but it sees realistic. It's very detailed, which is something CreativeRail have always been excellent at.
One of my favourite things, is that the major track and signalling defects present in Part 1, have been eradicated - Platform 4 Grantham signal no longer displays a permanent danger aspect, and it is generally easier for scenario writing. Scenario writing in part one was impossible and this is shown by the lack of scenarios uploaded to UKTS.
I will be buying the whole series, because I think it is worth very penny!

Unlike my boss, I prefer quality over quantity any day. You say you have no interest in european driving, have you given any a go? Must admit to rarely using UK routes now except for WCMLN, the NEF is simply humungous and the scenario possibilities are endless, plus the wealth of european stock is growing nicely, the Taurus is a very nice example as are VR's expert line loco's, you wont see RSC producing that kind of quality, no offence.jimmyshand wrote:True to a point but RSC do make exceedingly good routes and they do have the manpower resource to get things from concept to release pretty darn quickly. I have tried European routes and some US routes but try as I have, they just don't interest me. I even went as far as buying Horseshoe Curve but it turned out to be a waste of money because I only ever used it once!smarty2 wrote:Unlike my boss, I prefer quality over quantity any day. We're all different, some of us are interested in trains in general and those types of people will dabble in all routes, countries and types of traction. My interest in railways is very territorial and more than that, very era specific too. RW for me is all about recreating the glory days of my youth in the middle of the BR blue era when the diesel/electric locomotive was king. Modern railways full of plastic EMU's / DMU's interest me not one iota!
I suspect I'm not alone either. I witnessed a funny scene at a recent diesel event at a preserved railway. The railway had hired in a FGW 150 unit for the gala. One disgruntled diesel fan was demanding to speak to the railway manager! Here is a transcript of the conversation:
Diesel fan - "I wish to lodge a formal complaint to the General Manager for the running of a 150 unit. We want to ride the heritage diesels"
Bewildered ticket office man (probably a steam man!) - "Err ok, but surely the unit is a heritage diesel?"
Diesel fan - "Are you having a laugh? It's a piece of plastic $£%&*" !!
