You bet I have. I really miss Derek's progress reports on his latest projects. :(
gptech wrote:maybe the venom directed at RSC staff posting in here as private individuals trying to help the rest of us had something to do with it.
Not from me. I don't condone it and I didn't much like reading it. I think we've all lost out because of it.

Then you've just explained your statement of...

I think the same thing when I see nasty old suburban railcars that were only the most recent class withdrawn from regular service being touted as a draw for tourists on my nearest heritage railway. They were rotten for short suburban journeys, I would hate to think what they would be like for a longer run.

The Pacer truly is a horrible machine, to me all units are just buses on tracks but this thing really is a bus on tracks, I mean it really is!! For some bizarre and unexplained reason though, I'm seriously looking forward to this addon and I'm definitely going to get it, weird or what??!!

Love 'em or loathe 'em, there's no denying that they have their place in UK railway history---how many more lines would have been closed etc without their introduction?

I find it that it is a shame the sprinters where built, Imagine if instead of the 15xx units we have 14xx running ALL the services :D I have always thought what an Intercity pacer would look like instead of 158's everywhere (perhaps a train-building idea for our modellers....hint, hint)

Thats a bad thought lol, no one would want to travel by rail! I would much prefer to travel on a 142 over a 150, really don`t the seating arragement on the 150s. The 155,156,158s however have a much better seating setup.

I'm looking forward to this, mainly because it's a DMU that is still widely used and is different to what we already have (apart from RV's pacer ofcourse) plus it has character.
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it ;-)

They certainly do have a certain "rustic" charm to them, even agricultural! Very much looking forward to this.

Do you mean they are about as powerful as your average shire horse? :P

Not a nice unit to ride in, but from the features list this should be a highly immersive driving experience

The only time in my life I've ridden a horse, I was thrown up and down in the saddle all the time. From what I've read about Pacer units, travelling in one seems to be a very similar experience (except you probably don't have the stirrups preventing you from falling off :P)

I had to get the train back from work today (car broke down, first time in eight years!). Ended up on an ancient Z5300 AC EMU from the mid-60s, it would seem the 142 isn't the only unit in the world with the ride quality of a sledge on cobbles! Pretty sure the tiny 80cm wheels on these things are complemented by block brakes and buffer/chain couplings on the inner ends. The charm of being on such an old unit wore off after about two stops...

Heres a thought, why not have an hydraulic chair that bounces one around the room when going over rail joints? Sure JT could come up with "extras" like that? Now that would be immersive! :o
