AP Class 357/377 Sound Pack

Post by Mr395008 »

Hello,

I've recently purchased the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 375/377 Sound Pack. Its a brilliant pack, well done.

I have one problem though, the FCC reskin now has no sounds apart from when in the cab. Has anyone else experienced similar problem and does anyone have a solution for this?

Thanks,

Mr395008

Yes, I've tried this already. Doesn't resolve the problem for me :(.

For me, both this pack and the CIG pack, removed all reasonably good sounds, especially for the CIG. I am very disappointed with both these packs.

Hello Chris,

I'm sorry to hear you're disappointed with a couple of our sound packs. In what way did they differ on your system to the trailers which show the sounds in action?

Regarding the First Capital Connect reskin issue, assuming it's the one currently on UKTS and not Richard Mills' one in included in our extra stock pack, it's because only the default liveries and liveries found in our extra stock packs support the new sounds.

Sorry, but I have used your sound packs before, and from a "rail illiterate" users point of view, have found them very good. But I deliberately wanted them for the L2B, because they are the sounds that I remember.

Taking the 377, my sounds seem do have dropped to zero unless I open the window, and even then there isn't much more. With the CIG, it has totally destroyed the "rail sounds" into a constant "whir", and on top, even the brake "compressor" noise has been obliterated. These are the sounds I remember from this line, especially with the CIG.

Apologies, but I really wasn't to have a go, but I was so surprised at the result.

The perceived problem with the 375/377 sounds may be that Electrostars are actually very quiet from within the cab and you don't really hear that much run noise at all compared to older units such as the 325 or 421. The volume difference between the external and internal sounds should certainly be the same as shown in the product trailer though.

Regarding the class 421 sounds, the constant whir is actually a lot more realistic as the mk1 based EMUs certainly made quite a racket whereas the default sounds would have you believe they were pretty much silent apart from a few rail joints here and there. I would have hoped that this was demonstrated adequately in the trailer too before purchasing. The compressor issue is a strange one and not actually related to the sound pack but one you would find if you were still using the default sounds too. As you can see from the trailer, a compressor sound is included and it's in no way our intention to get rid of it but for some reason, certain formations seem to stop the compressor audio control from activating, so you won't hear the compressor, but it will still work technically to restore the brake pressure. Apologies about this but it's sadly something that's out of my control.

I hope that explains things sufficiently and do feel free to e-mail via the Contact Us form on the website if you have any further dissatisfaction.

Compared to the original sounds these are vastly superior and all for the price of a pint and a half of grog !! I particularly like the cab rattles when you crank it up to the 90mph limit on some parts of the route,it gives the unit a real sense of mass and weight. As usual AP has delivered !
