missing detail on a Patriot Loco

Post by michaelhendle »

Hello

I down loaded this file 26196 it is the Patriot multi pack, but when I run any of them from the pack all the boiler detail does not show up,the boiler is there, but no hand rails on the side of the boiler,no chimney,no dome,no smoke deflectors and just a blank disc where there should be a smoke box door.

I have just checked some other locos at random, and they show all the details that these don't

I'm just wondering why,it is the same in the shape view, all the detail is missing.

Yes!

It will appear like this because the other parts are not in the main shape file.

My pack installs OK and shows all the relevant details. I've tried turning down the display details but still got no problem!

Sorry if it's dis-respectful, Mike, but have you edited the eng files?

Cheers,

Hi Ged and Mick,

I have altered the eng file to use the Royal Scot cabview( which shows up OK ) and the tender wag file from automatic to chain,I haven't touched any thing else in both files.

I use convoi and when you click on the loco it shows a picture of it,and in that picture all the parts mentioned are also missing.

Hi Michael,

Being as the bits are a seperate shapefile, They probably will not view in Convoi or Shapeviewer unless you can load a second shape.

Should load up in MSTS ok though

Mick is correct they will not show up in Shape Viewer. If you click on the [freightanim] S file that should show the "bits and pieces". I got caught out early on in my FG DMU project where the insides of the units were [freightanim]!

The pictures generated by RouteRiter which can be used in ConBuilder are also based only on the main S file, and presumably this also applies to Convoi.

Hi Mick,Ged,and Alec,

Well to day I just tried the loco again, but this time as a player train, yesterday it was in a yard being coaled and watered.
To day as a player train loco every thing is there, the difference is the one yesterday has a # and the player doesn't.
As Paula Wilcox sang it's mystery it's mystery that dates me.

Thanks for all your help and sorry for wasting your valuable time.

Possibly the AI loco (represented by #) is less detailed than the driveable loco, because normally you would not get so close to it. From your description though there did seem to be a lot less detail.

I don't see how you can be wasting our time, we all need help sometime and you never know when your question will arise again and someone finds this thread and a solution is presented to them.

It does indeed date you Mike, especially since it was Toyah Wilcox that sang it!! Paula was in 'Man About the House'. :)

Hi Dave,

Thanks for that I didn't think the Paula bit was write but when I checked on I tunes there was no mention of Toyah, but just Paula Wilcox, I must admit I did fancy Paula Wilcox all those years ago.
