Poll: How do you prefer to play RW3? With TSX on or TSX off

TSX on, always. I can't go back to the horrible lighting of the old engine. MSAAx4 seems the sweet spot for AA; ironically I know someone who blew 2 grand on a rig, twin GTX560Tis and a CPU he's got up to 5GHz, and he's still using MSAAx4 because SSAA kills his fps :p.

never actually tried with TSX off, runs... fairly OK, especially after the updates, don;t usually check the FPS, I always seem to find it looks worse if you know the FPS

I don't think using the word 'smug' is particularly name-calling. It is an opinion. I do find a minority of TSX users smug. It is those people I was alluding to, not all TSX users.

I have nothing against you personally Darp, you are entitled to your opinion as am I. It is certain people who abuse their power that I have a problem with.

TSX mode produces the best graphics and features for TS2012 and as people upgrade their computers, the number of TSX users will increase until eventually we will all have a pleased look on our faces

I use TSX turned on for the majority of the time with most of the gameplay options set to max although, as others have found, turning off shadows and setting down water and particles for example, will help to improve the gameplay without too much detriment to the graphical effects in some routes.

I have experimented with the higher AA settings but I get the best all round performance with FXAA.

It is difficult to compare the results of different users as there are so many variables, not only in the hardware being used, but also the in-game settings, so it seems perfectly reasonable to me that 14 fps on one machine could easily look different on another. My own observations are that if the fps is regular, at 14 fps or less then it can be easily tolerated for a while. Low frame rates that cause the image to move in fits and starts is a different matter and is very difficult to accept.

So, as far as the poll is concerned, it is TSX on then.

For the record, I think Railworks is an utterly fantastic program and I never use anything else when it comes to trainsimming. RSC are to be congratulated on a superb platform, and of course on some pretty neat add ons too of which I have purchased several over the years. But, the program does have issues, and if people can not address these issues without fear of being shouted down or leaned on then Railworks won't progress, and people are likely to move on to something else if they feel frustrated.

Indeed I agree with this comment to a certain degree, but because of a few problems with the simulator such as the inefficient use of CPU power and poor sound handling and some AI / scheduling issues it does spoil things a little. If even a few of these issues are addressed by RSC then we would have the perfect simulator, and that is what is so frustrating, close to perfect but not quite and hence we always end up with the same in the forum threads, the same wish lists and moans time and again! Annoying but understandable, like it is annoying that RSC have not addressed some of the issues that stop their product from being the perfect product we all here want it to be!

The whole point of this thread was to try and gauge the differences people were having.

Maybe I didn't explain my reasons for starting this poll in my opening post. Apologies for that.

I started this poll simply because I'm planning to release a pack of platform lights that require the user to have TSX switched on. This is due to the point lights that I have used for the floor glow. I was simply trying to get an general overall percentage of members that will be able to use these items and any future ones that use this form of lighting

I never set out to start a war between those that can and those that can't.

I'm very grateful for you guys who have took the time to register your votes on this poll.

For the record I use TSX on, as I don't actually play RW3 that often. I use it to check my content is looking like it should, and not always necessarily how I want.
