Poll: How do you prefer to play RW3? With TSX on or TSX off

TSX on.
When TSX first came out I couldn't use this mode as my old legacy graphics card couln't take it. Rx ran very nicely in off mode but some time later my card was playing up so much I had to replace with a newer one and that allowed me to use TSX for first time and noticed a big difference straight away. Wouldn't go back to TSX off but the only down side is my fps took a big hit on some routes. My pc is about 5 yrs old now with dual core processor at 2.13GHz. On L2B I have shadows off but everything on max with fps from 14 to about 25. Settle Carlisle runs beautifully with shadows on medium.

Re: Poll: How do you prefer to play RW3? With TSX on or TSX off
Once again, the usual smug responses issue forth from some of the TSX-ites. But eye-candy is useless if it results in a slide show. Spare a thought for the people who actually went out and bought TS2012: most of us got it as a free upgrade because we already had RW, so we are probably inclined to shrug our shoulders at TSX and make do. Those who shelled out for it and have to limit themselves to Legacy must naturally feel a bit miffed because they didn't get what they paid for.
And brummie, if you are getting 14fps like I am, then you are fooling yourself if you think you are getting good performance.
Best wishes,
Padster

14fps is absolutely fine and will be registered through the eye as smooth, therefore it is not bad performance. The issue is that the in built fps counter won't go any lower than 14, so it may not be a true reflection on the performance. Although I don't see why there is any need to have a pop at Brummie for that, if he feels his performance is fine then so be it, why tell him he is fooling himself?
I actually wondered how long it would be before those who are using TSX would be pulled up for letting others know they could use it fine, it's happened in every other similar thread. It's the usual theme, those that are having issues can shout from the rooftops and hijack any thread they choose, those that are running it fine and enjoying their experience must keep quiet so as not to upset those that can't. Pathetic.

TSX off, having it on hits my frame rate too hard to be playable

I cannot really run on either my laptop or desktop with TSX on. The laptop just about can handle as it has an i5 processor but the desktop is 6 years old and really struggles!

All default UK routes plus S&C, HSC, and PDL, TSX on. Everything else TSX off. Donner Pass gives me complete lock up if TSX on, and runs like a dream with it off.

I don't think there is any need for it to be suggested that people are "being smug" for replying to the poll and question about why they use TSX turned on, if they say the game runs OK if it does, it kind of suggests that those people are to blame for it not running OK for others.

Re: Poll: How do you prefer to play RW3? With TSX on or TSX off
I've tried to run with TSX on a few times but the sound stutters and when there is a lot happening, such as loads of steam, the games freezes. I've got a new Toshiba Satellite and was told the graphics card was up to spec for the game. Perhaps they were just interested in selling me the laptop.

Re: Poll: How do you prefer to play RW3? With TSX on or TSX off
TSX on for me, mainly for the better lighting and shadows. TSX on has a small impact on frames per secs on my PC but generally the simulator works at aorund 30fps most of the time so I can engage the FPS lock for a very smooth experience only getting momentary stutter as I enter area's with lots of rolling stock about. The improvements when running in TSX mode in my opinion are worth trading off the drop in FPS.
Railworks is one of those games, like Crysis, where you get away with running it at low frame rates and the game runs OK and looks OK. This is providing the frame rate does not change up and down too much, it is the changes in the FPS that the eye notices so a steady 20 fps look smoother overall than when the simulator runs with FPS fluctuating between 30 and 40 fps.

Re: Poll: How do you prefer to play RW3? With TSX on or TSX off
Going by the results indicator at the top of the thread, it indicates that as of 14:56 on Wednesday the 25th of July in the year 2012, 85% of Railworks users are (to varying degrees) smug.
The other side of the statistic would therefore be that 15% of Railworks users have huge chips on their shoulders and resent the fact that 'the haves' can use TSX.
You just gotta love generalisations and statistics..................

Darpor, 14 fps is not 'absolutely fine'. Believe me, I know. The game literally stutters.
You can call me pathetic if you wish, yet you are the one in danger of making things worse and ultimately getting this topic locked. I said 'some' TSX-ites are being smug. Note that, 'some'.
May I direct you to Code of Conduct 2B as I feel it is something we have BOTH fallen foul of:
The following will not be allowed:
Berating or belittling a previous poster or casting derision on a previous poster's opinion
Now, if you want to play nice, I will apologise to brummie if you will apologise to me.
Best wishes,
Padster

Brummie actually said his frame rates were between 14 and 25 FPS, so it would appear that his post has either been misinterpreted or just taken as an excuse to have a rant. Ranting however isn't the purpose of this thread, nor will it make RSC issue a magic fix overnight or make anyone's PC suddenly perform better. Shall we now keep the discussion on topic, start a new one for a good moan if you wish .

TSX On, but Shadows turned off. I have everything else on their maximum options.
Take London to Brighton for example, frame rates/smoothness on there are poor (Built up areas only) with shadows on, turning off shadows and I still get the 14fps but it runs flawlessly, in fact you wouldn't realise it was 14fps.
