Coming soon…. J94 Austerity 0-6-0 tank locomotive with Maerdy Valley Railway line! The classic ex-War Department J94 tank engine is coming to Train Simulator 2012, together with the superb new Maerdy Valley mini-route. With 8 liveries, the J94 also includes both standard and advanced versions within the same pack: drive with standard HUD controls, or use advanced controls and utilise the locking reverser and different braking set-ups. The Maerdy Valley line runs from Maerdy to Tylorstown, serving two yards and a colliery, and puts the J94s to work hauling coal and goods and also running passenger services. Coming soon: keep watching for more details and screenshots.

I can't wait for this, being local to the (ex line). This is going to be essential for people like me who need some valleys assets to go along with our routes. well just really me.
Am now known as Zm-Yeti/Yetiworks. more to match other online accounts.

And yet another instance of having to purchase a route you have no interest in just to obtain a single loco?

The route is merely there to provide somewhere to run the engine, nothing more, nothing less. Sounds like the other part of the addon will be more to your tastes mind :)
The addon contains not just 1 engines, but in fact strictly speaking 2, plus about 20 different child objects which allow you to do practically infinite variants of Hunslet austerities :)

A simply solution would be to sell the J94 at its own package through your shop, which has been done in the past, it appeases both parties, unless RSC have full monopoly over distribution rights, which wouldn't particularly surprise me was a claus in there signing up to the partner program.

More strange however is there is practically no mention that the Maerdy route and the J94 was made by Meshtools in the "announcement" post on RSC'S facebook, so their is a whole slew of thank you's been aimed at RSC rather than the original developers, which is abit of a kick in the teeth.

So do you have a price for the pack from RSC, or should we assume it be the usual inflated £24.99 or even £29.99?

I'm always a bit perplexed by people worrying that there's too much content in a DLC pack

The MeshTools logo is plastered across the bottom of a number of images in the album. Although that really is something that's between the developer and the publisher to work out

Indeed, and it is nobody elses business really, not sure why others want to get involved in a discussion about it.

If Meshtools were unhappy, I am sure they would let RSC know.

I will have to see how much firstly and weigh that up against how much I really want the J94. As for a new route it may be in the same genre as Hatchet Hill of which I only wanted the 04 and Doncater Works where I wanted the 03. One good reason to wait for the summer sales.
I also wonder how RSC are going to package the B1 and the O4? Obviously, the locos probably individually with a number of scenarios, but anything else, new stock, more scenery etc?

Some lovely new screenshots of the J94's and route on rsc's FB page. It's looking like a mighty package!

Thats looking fantastic all round. Love the loco and that track might find its way into a route or two :D Looks like challenging terrain for hauling rakes of 16 tonners around, i hope this little loco make you work hard at the controls. Its a shame some are moaning pre-release, maybe you could wait until the christmas sale  I'll be supporting this one fully i think, Meshtools deserve no less IMO.
