Not something I will use, but it will probably appeal to a few people.

Shunting scenarios in particular have been crying out for that type of functionality since release (task list, not the gamepad).

I'll stick with my keyboard and mouse. I don't see how this game/sim can work properly on a joypad.

The Taskmap looks really useful.

Use the fire button on the Joypad to activate the laser hidden in the Eurostar :D

Must get a hat like that :D

Great stuff RS.com. Hopefully the functionality of the program for more serious users will sit alongside the features for those that want a bit more fun.

Oh dear..was remembering keyboard commands and using the fisher price F4 HUD not easy enough for a SIMULATOR which uses complex controls to SIMULATE real train operations so we now need gamepads to?

So this is where my DLC purchases money went to.

I'm stunned. FPS controller gets preferential treatment over the purpose built control device. I guess my RailDriver goes into the car boot sale, then?

Controller Support? - Meh! ( I suppose) Could already be done with "Joy2Key" or similar if you so desired...

Totally agree, especially when you've just bought a new route and are unfamiliar with all the siding names and numbers. It'll also help in telling you which way to drive, for, erm.. those moments when you're confused :P (usually when you're sat in a loco and aren't sure which end to start driving from. )

For introducing game pad support for RW took longer then i thought really.

A lot of gamers do have one for PC use and those who game on 360s or PS3s will be able to use them at last. Even though i have a wired 360 pad which i use for racing games, Helicopter flying on GTA i will not use it on RW.

The task list thing looks like a brillant and much needed option as well.

hi ...
So the game pad control, I personally find useless. :(
I sit not by PC and Keyboard and use a Gamepad.
For an arcade game that would be ok.
Had the game a console version, it would also be ok.
But nothing more.

The Task Map does not look really useful. I can also read with F1.
And the provision of data is again free computer time.
So here there was nothing would interest me.

Let's see what comes next.

The video suggests that if you click on a task in the scenario listing, the program will show you where that task is located on the network map without having to look at any other maps or data. This will make it much easier for everyone to follow the path of the scenario before setting out.

The joypad will be also useful in scenarios like Chasing Yellows where you come face to face with a train in your way which will not move ..... (press the fire button) :D :D :D

Sadly, I cannot.
A little birdy tells me that later on RSC will be announcing a new route. The DLR. You'll be able to use your XBox controller to sell tickets to the passengers

I can't see the issue though :/ Lots off other simulators support game pads. Examples including DCS Flight sims, Armed Assault series (handy for tanks), All the IL2 series from 1946 (Wings of Prey is included) and many other games even FS 2004, FSX and MS Flight.
