An otherwise excellent model is spoiled for me by the fact that when driving, and you shut off the regulator, the motor noise cuts out considerably which is good, but apply the brakes and the motor noise is back on all the way to a stop. Also can anything be done about the performance in AI mode. This, and the 2BIL take off like a rocket!
Sorry to be critical but I really do like the model and a Pullman train, being renowned for comfort, would not have passengers with soup in their laps before they've had a chance to say grace!

100% agree. You might be giving constructive feedback but the author may feel offended. I'm going to drop Richard a PM saying a big thank you for this.

I don't see anything wrong with justgeoff's comment. It's politely and succinctly written, with enough tact to let the modeller know that although it's an excellent add on, there are two things that could be tweaked to make it a little better.

Now, how could you suggest the constructive criticism was better worded rather than just having a pop at Geoff? That may be of more use than your rudely worded insult.

I think some people here are getting WAY too sensitive...

Thank you Fodda, I must admit I was taken aback by Andy's comment particularly as I had taken care to note my appreciation of the model and to ensure any criticism was softened with a bit of humour!

Dont think its the modelers fault that the Belle takes off like a rocket, this is a deficiency in the AI system of Railworks which does not properly simulate the trains moving off. All other models are the same.

Thank you for all the comments and the support, its really appreciated.

However, can I just say I took Geoff's comments in the way I know they were intended; as constructive criticism. He did say he liked the model. As has also been said I think the AI issue may be common to a lot of stock. But the sound problem may be something to attend to. Problem is, I'm a numpty when it comes to sounds (amongst many other things!). So if anyone has any ideas, I'd be pleased to hear them.

I can't comment on the sounds, but it does look nice parked in a siding at York------haven't had chance to actually use it yet (yes, I know it won't work at York, but that's the route I had loaded at the time )

Just to comment on justgeoffs post and how it could be taken as being a bit 'snotty'---the word 'spoiled' was used, often taken to mean ruined and could raise visions of the model being deleted in a fit of pique and consigned to the bin. We all know this isn't what was meant and in hindsight something along the lines of 'my enjoyment was lessened slightly by....' may have been a better choice. Quick show of hands---all those who've never done something similar raise your right hand; I bet it won't take long to count them.....

Richard and I have exchanged PM's in the past and he knows how much I appreciate his work, but I was rather hoping my comments on the AI behaviour might have prompted some help to overcome this problem which affects some models and not others. Perhaps it still might.
Meantime, thanks again Richard for all your hard work.

I agree it's an awesome model,thank you Richard ! I also concur that some on the posts are hyper-sensitive when constructive criticism is used. One almost feels as if walking on egg-shells when attempting to make a valid comment. As I said the BB model is exceptional but the sound is somewhat naff and intensely irritating when travelling at speed with multiple units especially after I configured an 8 car train from 2 multis. This will be fixed in time and for now I'm happy that guys like Richard are producing fine models of classics AND openly admitting that sound is not his strong suit ! I don't feel that any constructive/polite criticism/comment will in any way discourage creators of freeware products.

I had a quick play with the Brighton Belle last night and I think it is absolutely spiffing, right down to the interior views with veneered bulkheads and lamps on the tables. Even Mrs Carinthia was impressed!

I don't think the sounds should be interfered with unless real sounds from the cab can be obtained, which is probably unlikely. All those bonks, creaks, clatters, moans and groans really sound good. I remember that some older electric trains made exactly that kind of sound when braking - to my non-technical mind it is the impetus of the braking train train against the desire of the motors to free-wheel that causes that sound (the opposite of being under power where the motor works against the train's desire to not move). Whether the Pullmans actually sounded like that or not I cannot say - I never travelled in one, never mind rode in the cab!

Well my knowledge of modelling or creating sounds amounts to a big fat zero! So for me, this model and sounds are bloomin' marvellous!

I should point out that the sounds were by Darren Carter, originally made for our LT Standard Stock model. I think all the bumps, creaks etc. really add to the atmosphere of what is a very old electric train and do like the overall sound. Even though not authentic Pullman sounds (which I, like most of us here, have no idea what they actually sound like), I've been more than happy to use Darren's excellent soundset for all my SR Electrics. I could never have put together something as sophisticated as this. However, if there is a problem anywhere with a sound, its probably because I've broken something along the way, by messing about! I wouldn't rule out what John says above though, as to the braking sound.

We hope to release our LT D78 Stock very soon. Then you will see just what Darren is now able to achieve (not forgetting Jimi Ibbets).

I'm not really sure why people have to complain about the sounds, I mean, it doesn't sound like a steam engine or a diesel, does it? Sure, the sounds may not be 100% accurate to the real thing, but the point is that it sounds like a 1st-generation EMU.

After buying London-Brighton during the Steam Sale, the only trains I can stand to run back and forth along the route are the Brighton Belle and the 4SUB units.
I do plan on doing a mega-review on the London-Brighton Route, the 4SUB units and the Brighton Belle.
