Yet more 101 DMU improvements - Opinions sought

Post by Brailsford »

I have now improved the AI DMU sounds as well as the basicc physics

AI DMUs now accelerate with engine sounds reving up throgh the gears as per a driven consist.

- Additioaly for those of you who have the Armstrong Powerhouse MK1 coach sound pack I have made a considerable improvement to the bogie sounds.

Would the community like an additional file/ upgrade for those of you who have the AP MK1 sounds installed?

I will (hopefully) next week be releasing an upgrade / patch to my original file to give the AI sound improvements and better RPM gauge performance. :D

Any improvements are most welcome! I enjoy the 101 much more thanks to your work. I should imagine that most users would have the AP Mk1 sound set installed so this would be great. Regarding the engine sounds, I think they are a little to quiet. I remember more of a humming noise inside but outside of the unit more of a loud rasping exhaust (a cruder similarity in sound comes to mind! ), cutting out as the throttle was dropped. Thanks for what you've done so far.

The only video I have seen on the 101 was on Marleyman's site.

The rev counter was totally wrong. The gear speeds are 1st 0 - 18 mph, 2nd 18 - 25mph, 3rd 25 - 40mph, 4th 40 - 70mph.
In the video the set was doing 50mph with the revs 3/4 the way up the yellow - impossible! at those revs the unit would be doing 60 + mph.

The thing sounded like a class 47 when ticking over.

If someone posts a video I would like to see if it's improved.

I can see from this thread that the 101 is popular, the mods I managed to make to the 101 included new bogie sounds, over rev elimination, classic exhaust rasp,3rd & 4th gear ratio acceleration
toned down. The mod is intact on a USB memory stick somewhere.....I'm a very untidy person,if i can find it I'll pass it on to Simon(Tazman)as I dont have Railworks installed anymore. Here is a video
of the mod in a very early stage.

Is the 101 ever going to be updated to 2012 standards?

To get back to the original question, yes please!
The improvements you have made so far are brilliant, anything further will be the icing on the cake!

Cheers,

Funny how no one has mentioned the poor class 111 that seems to get overlooked by everybody! :(
