Sadly the misuse of the PM system by an individual has led to new members, who are on moderator approval, being unable to access the PM system.

Once the moderators are satisfied that the new member understands the forum rules and can follow them, they are put on regular posting and can then send and receive PMs. There is no set number of posts for this.

Is there a way that a member on moderator approval might be able to request a moderator or admin access their PM and send it to their registered email address? The spam attack by RWScenarios was pretty low and did require some kind of action, but disabling all use of the PM facility seems to have been a case of throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

How is a newer member who receives a PM from a moderator with something important supposed to receive that information? If it's a warning message with "you have 48 hours to respond" does that mean that the response is only required 48 hours after they become a full member and are finally able to access their messages?

Moderators have no access to member's PMs so it is not possible to forward messages. In the event that a moderator needs to contact a new member they can use the registration email address.

Members placed on moderator approval can still send and receive PMs - it is only the new members that are unable to send and receive PMs.

Hi all,
I wanted to ask this a administrator in private, but I can't due to the above. I am now a (paying) member for half a year and in that time I think I have not broke any forum rule (I only have 11-ish posts), but I am stil on moderated, so I cannot post directly, cannot comment on the files directly en now cannot send private messages. How long does it take to establish that I just wat to be a decent contribuing member? This is not critisism, just wandering and as I said I am not able anymore to ask anyone privately.
Best regards, Sicco

Volume of posts is not a material factor in the decision but people who post infrequently are more likely to me overlooked. I have just quickly reviewed your posts and turned you into a regular member with full posting rights.

Hi Broadtrain1979
our system shows you joined 02 Jun 2012 02:03, so you would still be under moderation as a new user.
If you had an old account, what name was it under?
Theres no other users with your name in the database.

You haven't registered under the same name, though you have used the same e-mail address.
You were last here on 15 Apr 2012, at 02:53!

The original account is MarkAaron.

Mark, as you are only allowed one account, you have 48 hours to decide which you wish to keep!

If you've forgotten the password for your old account and wish to keep that account, then the best thing to do is email support@uktrainsim.com asking for your password to be reset.

UKTrainSimForums@uktrainsim.comHello rcetank, You have received a new private message from "spikeyorks" to your account on "Atomic Systems" with the following subject: Amber Gambler Scenario You can view your new message by clicking on the following link: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/ucp.php?i= ... inbox09:33

1st, Spikeyorks If you are reading this I am not ignoring you on purpose. I am not allowed to PM stuff yet.
2nd, Administrators, Why send messages like above to my e mail address when I am not allowed to view said message. Is there nothing in the system to warn the people who can PM that the person on the other end can't?

The system is not perfect but it is what it is and we have to live with it.

It was working fine until some joker decided to spam half the forum membership. That won't happen again from a new user.

You should find the PM system works now for you and you can post freely.

John

Hi John

Could you please review my own postings ref the block on sending PMs

I have just received a PM from another member inviting me to PM him - and I can't!!

If you look in the Rwks General Discussion Forum you'll see my latest enquiry (Class 08) and the correspondence I've had with long term member BriYeo
