Looking forward to this update,
I hope they fix the fence loft with no post and the embankment loft with the dark stripe too.
I've been to Eastbourne too, So what!

Used extensively on the Falmouth branch too. Same issue.

On a side note, does anyone know if this update will break current scenarios? I'm sure some news like this would be useful for RSC to tell us scenario editors as to update ten scenarios alone for me and then test them will take a week at least. Some side notes for content creators would be very nice from RSC and would help just to boost the community that bit more I feel as it means people won't hold out on creating things because it hasn't;t been updated yet!

Looking forward to the update, I wasn't overly keen on this route with just the standard scenarios and stock, but the 455 and 444 have made it very playable IMO.

Wouldn't have thought anything would break, after all it's just some lights being added really.. I'd be worried if things like track adjustments / speedlimits / signalling changes were mentioned. Since I've only got one public scenario for Portsmouth Direct, I'm not too fussed what it does. :P

Agreed, whilst welcome I suspect it will just be cosmetic changes so it shouldn't interfere with existing scenarios. Apart from the unprotected crossover on the up approach to Guildford, I think the signalling and trackwork are pretty solid as is.

I hope they do a couple of fix's to the route, one being the speed limits along the route especially the ones between Rowlands castle and Haslemere driving at 50mph between petersfield and liss on the up line is just annoying as the line speed is 80-85, a couple of signals are in the wrong places which isn't too much of an issue. However there are some cross overs that are placed that don't exist (cross over london end of Milford) and the layout of Woking junction is laid and signalled completely wrong and even missing a cross over or two which I do hope is looked at by RSC.

I did make a copy of the PDL route and changed all of these things as well as a couple of other minor niggles I found (an issue when you drive the real thing) but I do hope that the route is looked at and not just updates lighting and sky as it is an otherwise lovely route.

Thanks all, fingers crossed they fix these things, but I hope they don't break scenarios. I can see my nights being spent sitting there driving the Class 455 constantly. Albeit fun for the first two or three runs, it gets quite tedious if I stay there too long doing the same thing. Although a break in between would no doubt suffice!

Just thought I'd bump this thread up for anyone not aware of tonight's planned update to the route. I have yet to experience any problems with routes that have been upgraded to TS2012 standards but I always make a backup just in case, might be worth doing the same.

From Twitter yesterday...
is the 4VEP still due for release tomorrow?

Unfortunately the 4VEP has been delayed. We however be releasing it very soon. We are sorry for the delay. The update to PDL is currently in testing. We figure it would make more sense to our fans to release it and the 4VEP together.
I don't think the update will happen tonight :-?

It's only a free update so it's not a major deal, but one of the key elements of my job is managing the customer's expectations... I really don't see the point in telling half of your customers that something's happening on a certain date and then telling the other half that it's delayed. RSC really need to start putting all their information in one place.

The "it would make more sense" comment is missing the word "commercial". It's a good old case of letting down your existing customers to pick up new ones. I'd imagine a large proportion who have PDL will already have the 4CIG and will therefore have no interest in purchasing the 4VEP, RSC just want to make sure anyone who buys the 4VEP also buys a nice, shiny TS2012 route to go with it.

Hmmm, I'm confused, I thought the updated TS2012 PDL route was free to customers who had already bought it, so, why do we have to buy it again, if they release the 4VEP with it ??? If I don't want a 4VEP, can't we have the updated layout on its own ??

You dont have to buy it again Steve. It's not being released with the 4VEP, just being held so it can be released on the same day.
