Re: RSC DLC - Greater Variety Of Routes Needed
Hmm, searchlights. They were still in use into the 80's IIRC. I think Newcastle had some half way along the through platforms in each direction. I know York did have some 3 aspect searchlights at the north end of of Platforms 14 & 15, but they were likely replaced when Waterworks Crossing was lifted in 1974.
Expanding the TS wagon fleet.

Re: RSC DLC - Greater Variety Of Routes Needed
Hmmm, I thought someone else was already creating the Leamside Line ??
Silly question, but, I always wondered if we could turn our electrified routes into steam/diesel ones, how difficult would it be to delete all the catenary on WCML, for example? Not being a route builder personally, does the electrification also affect signalling and other scenery items as such, if it was a simple bog standard push the delete button to get rid of the pylons and wires, I'd do that myself, but, if it's more complicated than that then I won't bother.
Cheerz. Transport Steve.

Indeed they are, but that doesn't stop anyone else doing it.TransportSteve wrote:Hmmm, I thought someone else was already creating the Leamside Line ??
Not sure about how easy it is to just remove, but I dont see why it would affect anything else in any way.TransportSteve wrote: Silly question, but, I always wondered if we could turn our electrified routes into steam/diesel ones, how difficult would it be to delete all the catenary on WCML, for example? It is relatively easy to remove the cantenary. I've done it before with the WCML. I think it was done editing the tracks.bin removing all references to the cantenary.
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it
Re: RSC DLC - Greater Variety Of Routes Needed
Have any of you guys tried Wcml-n before the wires? Don't know why it's not available for download on this site, but it does just that.

Re: RSC DLC - Greater Variety Of Routes Needed
Oh, I didn't consider amending the bin file, that sounds a lot easier than manually deleting everything for several hours, thank you for that, Pete.
EDIT: I've just had a PM reminding me that certain areas of Glasgow were covered in the electrification project in the very early 1960's, which would affect any route operations for that period within the game if anyone wanted to make the WCML into a steam route. Personally, I think I'll do a catenary cull from Carlisle to Motherwell, and see how it goes from there.
Cheerz. Steve.

Probably because of where it comes from. Mentioning that site here generally tends to lead to deleted posts etc.SquidvT wrote:Don't know why it's not available for download on this site

Re: RSC DLC - Greater Variety Of Routes Needed
No, of course not young Sir, I just wanted to point that out for those who weren't aware, we could have 20 Leamside Lines if we wanted, I can't quite remember the specific area personally, it was such a long, long time ago since I visited the North East.Darpor wrote: Indeed they are, but that doesn't stop anyone else doing it.If I was to do a network of lines based on the default route, then I couldn't leave it out, more for personal reasons than anything else and growing up a stones throw away.

Re: RSC DLC - Greater Variety Of Routes Needed
If you pop on to Google Earth, search "Tursdale". It will probably take you to the business park, where the ECML is forking off to the left and heading directly north from that point is the Leamside. You can follow it quite easily, past Shiney Row, the village of Leamside and to Washington and beyond before reaching Pelaw, where you go west back into Newcastle. Much of the track is still actually in place, despite being mothballed for many, many years.TransportSteve wrote:I can't quite remember the specific area personally, it was such a long, long time ago since I visited the North East.![]()

Re: RSC DLC - Greater Variety Of Routes Needed
It's technically correct. The Leamside Line was the original main route through, superseded by the later addition of the fork off to the left.chrisiveson wrote:Hope that's not swearing Darren?Darpor wrote:If you pop on to Google Earth, search "Tursdale". Re: RSC DLC - Greater Variety Of Routes Needed
The biggest problem with de-electrifying the WCML is removing all the ole. This can be done with RWTools, however, I've found that RWtools 'hides' assets and doesn't actually delete the reference that they are there resulting in milk bottles. Very much the same way as RWDecal hides decals. To combat that you could always edit the missing asset milk bottle to show nothing but I've haven't tried that yet. Mully changed it to show an orange cooling tower to highlight them further so it is possible to change it.TransportSteve wrote:Oh, I didn't consider amending the bin file, that sounds a lot easier than manually deleting everything for several hours, thank you for that, Pete.

Re: RSC DLC - Greater Variety Of Routes Needed
I second that. My machine is a little behind the curve, but both of these routes run nicely for me. (I'm using an Ivatt 2-6-0 and a Collett 0-6-0 to stand in for the proper period Irish steam locomotives.) They have *so* much atmosphere it's almost scary.Acorncomputer wrote:Hi Ted
