I assume you convert the TGA to Ace with RWAceTool? Or is it with the asset editor?

I also am still having trouble with relative path, I'm getting the path

C:\Users\Michael 2011\Documents\3DModels\trains\1_1000_Cube\textures\texture1.tga

instead of:

//textures\texture1.tga

I just cannot work out where I'm going wrong :(

1/ Drag the top header down.
2/ In the File Paths tab.
3/ Make sure the Relative Paths Default button is on.
4/ When loading the .tga file make sure the Relative Paths button is on as well.

You should have a Texture folder with your .tga file in it in the same folder where you have saved the .blend file and have the IGS_ExpModFile.txt file there as well. You have to save the .blend file before you load the .tga file in to blender. When exporting the .igs file should export to the same folder as the .blend file.

Yes use RWAce to convert from .tga to .ace and then move or copy and paste the .ace file to your source texture folder, as well as the .igs file to the same folder where your texture folder is.

Hope that is of some help.

Is it possible that me using Windows 7 is stopping it from working, as it still won't use the relative path...

There was talk of such a utility, but as you'd need the source files and have to be the owner, or have permission from the owner, to export them to a format suitable for RailWorks.

If you're using 64 bit beware that the Asset Editor only works in 32 bit Windows.

Assest Editor? as in the one in RW? If so I know it works for 64bit...

I have Blender 2.49b installed in the Documents folder,C:\Users\Donal\Documents\Blender\blender-2.49b-windows, although i'm sure if it matters where you have Blender installed on your computer.
I have Python 2.6.6 installed somewhere on my computer which has to linked to the Blender installation but you must have that sorted out because i think Blender would not start at all if there was a problem with Python. And not forgetting Hemming's Bigex Blender IA/IGS Exporter 2.1.71which has to be linked to your Blender installation for exporting purposes. If i recall correctly i don't think there is Windows 64 bit specific Blender 2.49b.

I'm not certain but I don't think any of the above is the cause of your relative path problem. Here is the path to where i save the .blend file - C:\Users\Donal\Documents\Blender\Dos, i also have the IA_ExpModFile.txt file and the IGS_ExpModFile.txt in there. I have the texture folder there as well - C:\Users\Donal\Documents\Blender\Dos\Textures, in which i put the .tga file. I don't think it matters where on your computer you save the .blend file the important part is you have a 'Textures' folder there as well with the .tga file in it.

Save the .blend file first, make sure the relative path buttons are on when you are loading the .tga file, it can be hard to tell whether they are on or off just try it each way and again make sure to save the .blend file before you load the .tga file in to Blender.

I get a crash every time I try and load the Editors. The windows always appear minimized and I'm unable to maximise them. I've been building in Blender on 7 (64 bit) and then loading up Vista (32 bit), exporting from Blender and then using the Editors there.

Edit.

I just checked and I can load the Editors direct from the railworks folder on the Vista partition. Why didn't I think of that before? :D
