4-VEP coming soon from RSC - Now Out

Post by crumplezone »

What, no thread for a a new slamdoor emu? for shame!
Friday 30th March 2012
4VEP coming in April!
4VEP coming soon

The 4VEP (Class 423) electric multiple unit will be available for Train Simulator 2012 from 26 April. With BR Blue/Grey and Network Southeast liveries, the 4VEP will be a superb addition for your Portsmouth Direct Line.

Before the modern Electrostar and Desiro EMUs were introduced, the 4VEP was one of the ‘slam door’ classes which formed the backbone of southern suburban and branch line services from their introduction in the 1960s. Unlike modern units with hydraulically operated sliding doors, the 4VEP (like the similar 4CIG) had rows of hinged doors enabling quick transfer of passengers on very busy commuter services. The slamming of these many doors prior to departure was a familiar sound at railway stations and gave rise to the nickname ‘slam door’.

The 4VEP (‘VEP’ standing for Vestibule Electro-Pneumatic Brake Stock) for Train Simulator 2012 comes complete with BR Blue/Grey liveries and scenarios for the Portsmouth Direct Line Expansion Pack (available separately). Available from 26 April.

Excellent news, will be great for the Brighton line.

Just need RSC to add a buffet car to the CIG now

Actually, didn't AP have a 4VEP underway?

It says V where it should say R :(

Bit hard to tell it was about the VEP with the rather unrelated title to the subject :P

I thought about that myself, but too late to edit now :( Any mod reading this can merge the two threads and edit the title.

VEP...my favourite of the Southern slamdoor. Hope they remodeled the exterior because the 4CIG just looks a little "off" in my eyes. Could be just me...

It would be great to have a reincarnated 4REP in RW...one day.

Our (AP) VEP is still simmering away but very much a long-term project.

As with the Cig there is something about the front that seems not right, maybe it's just me.

It looks good... the textures on the side look better then on the 4CIG (there is something about the 4CIGs TS2012 conversion that makes the textures look off to me...)

Just like the CIG, the roof is too shallow or the sides are too high. The top front of the cab is slightly distorted to compensate.
Wonder if the 4VEP has the correct 3-position brake handle?

Thanks

If the 444 is anything to go by then I'm sure the 4VEP will use the same cab as the 4CIG

Did any VEPs have the black cabfront stripe? I thought it was only CIGs.
