Hi All
I have 39 Scenarios installed for Woodhead and all but 2 work OK.
These 2 are David's (an old friend of mine from MSTS days) and are "DMU to Hadfield - File ID 28603" & "Something Borrowed,Something Blue - File ID 28556" and I get a SBHH on Start Up for both of these.David has no problem with them so we are wondering if any one else has problems.
David runs Windows 7 whereas I use Windows XP Home but apart from that my PC overall spec is better than David's - I am having my PC Technician looking at the 3GB switch for XP Home as all the info points to XP Professional but he believes it can be installed on XP Home.
There are also three "Mods" we are looking at currently reference :-
One is that there is a suggested alteration to the cab view of the CL76 loco so you look out of the windows a bit better, the second is a suggested fix to give a jointed rail sound and the third is a mod to the CL101 DMU to give better sounds when you have a rake of more than one unit to see if these Mods let me run these 2 scenarios.
Woodhead Settings on my PC as shown :-
Basic Settings - Custom
TSX # Off
Texture Filtering # Antiscropic x 8
Anti - Aliasing # MSSA x 8
Options - Custom
Particle Density # Medium
View Distance # Medium
Object Texture # Medium
Passenger Density # Medium

Re: Woodhead Scenarios - Windows XP Home
Hi Mike,
I had similar problems as you running railworks on Win XP, WCML N would provide SBHH errors as soon as I got within 20 miles of glasgow. This was pretty much regardless of how low I set things in the options. I tried the 3 Gig switch but on my system it didnt help.
In January I bit the bullet and got Win 7 64bit.
I havent looked back since. SBHH errors are now extremely rare rather than routine. I can run WCML-N on any settings no crashes.
One thing you dont mention is the amount of RAM your pc has.
I would of course recommend you at least try the 3 gig switch,Provided you have more than 2 gig of RAM it has helped others. Its easy to set up yourself (and certainly XP is capable of running it) details are in this thread.

Failing that it may be worth considering an upgrade to win 7.

Re: Woodhead Scenarios - Windows XP Home
I'm pretty new to Railworks but I can share my experiences.
I first installed it on my Windows XP Professional machine, quite old but fairly well specified. I had a few of those errors with the machine set at the default level of install. Almost all went away when I turned the slider down one level. Except activity at the west end of the Woodhead add-on. Nothing I could do in terms of settings would get me through the Guide Bridge area.
I already had a new Windows 7 machine on order although it was (frustratingly!) delayed. When I installed Railworks on it I found everything flew along at a very good FPS and the Woodhead route appeared to be working A1. Obviously it isn't easy to test every scenario (especially when some had died well into the experience, and others need modifying as they use stock I don't have) but all seemed good. I did, however, notice just yesterday that one Scenario - Two Ports by Gordon Mackenzie - will not load at all and gives the "Something Bad Has Happened" error immediately. I haven't tried fiddling with settings or modifications yet but I usually find a solution given enough perseverance. Its on the back burner for now.
Hope this helps,
John

Re: Woodhead Scenarios - Windows XP Home
Hi All
Firstly I am a "Stubborn" Yorkeshireman on a Pension but I think Railworks is missing my point of what I am trying to achieve.
When I bought Woodhead the System Requirements quite clearly stated the following (and it still does as I have just checked)
":-
OS Windows XP ## Mine Windows XP
Processor 2.8GHz or Faster ## Mine Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 - 3.16GHz - 6MB Cache
Memory 2.0GB RAM ## Mine Kinston 4GB DDR2 800MHZ Kit (2x2GB)
Graphics 256MB with Pixel Shader 3.0 ## Mine ATI HD4850 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E with Pixel Shader 3.0 (Latest Drivers installed)
Direct X Windows XP ## Mine Direct X Windows XP
Hard Drive 6GB Free Space ## Mine 268GB
Sound Direct X 9.0C Compatible ## Mine On Board 8 Channel
As can be seen in every instance I far exceed the System Requirements advertised by Railworks
Now if I can't get everything to work with my set up reference Woodhead surely Railworks should change the System Requirement "pronto" to Windows 7 64 bit otherwise they are using "False Advertising"
In the meantime can someone confirm please that both of David's Activities to which I referred in my post work OK for you
Thanks for the feedback so far
Regards
Mike

Re: Woodhead Scenarios - Windows XP Home
That's an interesting point. The two scenarios that won't load for Mike (but do for me obviously) both start at Manchester which I am assuming is a far more complicated "load" system wise rather than scenarios that start at Sheffield? (Or are things not that simple?).Except activity at the west end of the Woodhead add-on.

David

Re: Woodhead Scenarios - Windows XP Home
I understand you, Mike, but I don't think either of these Scenarios are part of the Woodhead package. If all of the provided Scenarios work, they have surely met their specification. I can't test either of those without making modifications as I don't have the necessary stock, but all of the issued scenarios only use default and provided locomotives and stock.Iluka wrote:When I bought Woodhead the System Requirements quite clearly stated the following (and it still does as I have just checked)":-
