Class 317 and 325 sounds

Post by class313 »

I was wondering if there was a way of aliasing sounds from the 325 to Dave B's superb class 317. My only concern was that the setup of the 325 is different to that of the 317, because with the 325, all coaches are considered as 'engines' (bar the TPV), but with the 317, only the DTSO's are 'engines' with the motor coach listed as a 'carriage', and this seams to affect how the sounds are played. Is there a way round this problem, or is a re-work of the trains scripting required :-?

It's possible, all you would really need to do is change the .bin file so that it is referring to the .proxybin and .proxyxml files in the class 325 sounds.

It's not as easy as that because the Class 317 MSO is registered in TS2012 as a 'carriage', but the class 325 MSO is listed as an 'engine', so the bin files are different, as are the sound setup.

It's considerably more difficult than that, because the 317's controls are scripted and behave radically differently to the 325s. You can do it of course, but you'll need to rewrite the 325 sound configs.

I've ( obviously ) looked at it, but not really #1 on list of things I want to do :)
