AI Loco horn or whistle

Post by anorak001 »

Is it possible to get an AI loco to sound its horn or whistle before moving off or when appoaching a level crossing?

I'm not aware of that function, but the ability to script things in lua in this sim means we don't know where the boundaries are. It may be possible but I'm not able to say.

I think some of those more knowledgeable about such things have said it should be possible if you set up a whistle board as a signal. As I understand it, the difficulty would be in having the AI notsound the horn every time it passed a board

It would certainly be nice if the session tools were expanded to enable things like this.

It is possible to apportion a % chance of a sound playing, AP do that with wheel flats and other sounds. The triggering is the issue.

The tech docs have not been updated.... Ever?

I have been experimenting with this. I can't get it to work. I can get the horn to turn on but I can not find a way to turn it off. All of my methoads of turning it off mean that the horn does not sound in the first place. If i could get it to work it would be quite simple to script a random function into it so the AI train will only sound the horn at some crossings. You could also have one trigger that would be a random and one trigger that would alway sound.
