Industrial routes - do they exist?
Hello there!
I have been searching, high and low, for a route, set in a industrial setting, where I can do a bit of shunting with my locomotives, but I havent actually found any.
So I would greatly appreciate any tips regarding a route, where I can put my locomotives to the test.
It doesnt have to be large, just as long as you can do some shunting.

The one that springs to mind immediately is the DLC, "Doncaster Works" http://store.steampowered.com/app/24095

Well, I got that DLC, and its not realy more then a depot in my point of view, sure, they marketed it as an industrial route, but I would claim that a industrial route would have some industries.Darpor wrote:The one that springs to mind immediately is the DLC, "Doncaster Works" http://store.steampowered.com/app/24095

I think I know what you mean.
Something that incorporates perhaps a Colliery, Power Station and Steel Works at least, with other industries on the route with their own sidings and facilities. The great days of British industry when the railways were essential for ensuring that raw materials were bought in and finished goods back out, perhaps also not far away from some sizeable docks.
Very nice
A number of routes incorporate elements of this but I don't know of one in this specific format.

This? (Although apparently most of the included scenarios are broken and have never been fixed...)

Westhouses and Blackwell Branch, file ID 22974 by Batling has a number of collieries and industrial looking buildings.

This is indeed a super route and does have those elements but not specifically an industrial route. (For those that do not have this route it is well worth getting anyway).Marleyman wrote:The Central Route by Retro, Docks, Coal Yard, Power Stations, Passenger Line, best freeware route on UKTS.

Re: Industrial routes - do they exist?
Hachet Hill by Oovee, Woodhead can be considered industrial aswell on large scale, meshtools will have Maerdy line eventually which is a 11mile welsh colliery line with the J94 and Austerity steam industrial tanks included, hm, Prairies has a few freeware industrial ones for the saddle tanks in the ukts library aswell and there is one of the challenge routes from challenge 2 which was big shunting zones by hertsbob I believe.
Re: Industrial routes - do they exist?
Well, I got Doncaster Works and Hatchet Hill, but non of those two are realy what im looking for, doncaster, mostly becaus its a workshop and not an industry, and hatchethill, since its so broken.
I would love a good railyard with an industrial area or a harbor, where I can do some shunting with my heavy deisels that i developed.

Build your own?
Best way to learn the program inside out and it's not that hard. If it's for personal use, you don't even have to worry too much about the scenery just lay the track and plonk a few buildings here and there - job done!
Best of all, it's free

Not industrial-era, but certainly industrial-origin...
The freelance BR Foxfield RouteBuild Challenge route includes a use for the default working coal chutes, as does Swanwick Colliery on the Pye Bridge line.
