What would you spend your £25 on?!?!
Hey guys, its that wonderful time of the month when the DLC budget resets from £0!! (Boy oh Boy, was January a long month!!) Been looking at several bits of Downloadable content over the past few weeks and really cant decide what to buy. Its easy to say "BUY IT ALL!!!!!", but really must cap the spend so I can save for a new PC that will allow me to enjoy the benefits of TSX and frame rates above 20fps (at least most of the time!!!) So the poll pretty much shows the various items i'm interested but i'd like your opinions!! Feel free to share any pros and cons you see with any of the DLC I have chosen for my shortlist or suggest any other 'must have' DLC I may not already own!!

Personally I would buy the 150/2 and the 156. Remember that a 'must have' anything is only a must have if you will use it.

More depends on your intrested era really.
I myself voted for the JT67 and also a 5er for the 20 collection isn't bad at all either.

Well that was my opinion bout the 20 pack as well!!! Rather like the idea of the RHTT and Nuclear flask wagons as they are interactive and something a bit different, plus a couple of years back when I lived in Cumbria, the flasks used to pass my bedroom window en route from Sellafield a few times a week! Plus the 67 advance is somewhat different to a lot of other locos on the market, but then I also like the idea of the stripped down version (if I can call it that) from RSC, as it comes with the Caley Sleepers.220389 wrote:More depends on your intrested era really.

Then there are the 15x DMUs, all of which I remember from their introduction as they all ran into Scarborough (where I grew up) at some point!!
That just leaves the Pendo, which I dont really have any particular connection to, other than the odd journey from the NW up to Scotland on! You cant beat riding full tilt on a Virgin...........Pendolino!!! Or as I prefer to call them, Tilting Tin Cans. However, they are pretty much essential for any modern day WCML-N Scenario!!!!!
Choices, Choices!!!! LOL!!

Also the RHTT's are fully set up for the JT67 as well. I have both the 67's as i wanted to have the sleeper stock and got it when it was on sale, but now i rarely if ever drive the RSC one since i got the JT verison.bungled80a wrote:Well that was my opinion bout the 20 pack as well!!! I Grew up with the 150's and were very local to me (even though we don't have the typed used on my local line) It is an fantastic unit. The 156 hasn't yet been upgraded to TS2012 standard yet.
The pendo' is very soon to be upgraded to TS2012 standard which will be great. Also as you said they are very needed for operations on the WCML (So are the 221's) Also away from topic i have to agree being on a Tilting Super Voyager (More mileage on since they go to Edinburgh from Wolvo') or the Pendos is great fun, unless the tilt gets de-acted due to a train fault.

Indeed, biscuits, tea and Guinness is all you need, so the rest can be spent on more DLC!bungled80a wrote:Food is good!!! Although my housemate reckons you can live off Rich Tea Biscuits (although i'm not convinced)nnndoh wrote:unemployed right now, ill probably spend it on food

I found it very hard to answer this one.
The Woodhead route is fantastic, and doesn't seem to cause much of a performance hit, but in the end I voted for option 3: of those you list, I'd choose the 150 and 156. The 158 seems very dated now, and really needs updating. i don't know much about the 67.

Re: What would you spend your £25 on?!?!
I voted for other. I spent 25 quid on Woodhead in one shot, but regularly spend 25 quid in one night on other. I really hope that 25 quid is not remembered by another, but it has certainly given me a headache. I hate value comparisons in this manner, so I deserve my head to feel the other. Great.
The value of your investments may go up as well as down.

Re: What would you spend your £25 on?!?!
it terms of Value, i took option 3
in terms of era, id also chose either 2 or 3.
in terms of construction, manhours, model building, Woodhead wins.
you gotta think your getting an 08, 37, a tommy, and an 8f loco wise, and bundle of wagons and coaches, and a fully working Woodhead line. ( i never got the msts one working properly )
Tommy is worth atleast £10 on its own, and the 8f is probably valued at that prive aswell, so in all fairness divide the fiver amoungst the rest and you got yourself a bargain.

Re: What would you spend your £25 on?!?!
Woodhead is a cracker! Hard to go wrong there.
The JT 67 + 20 is nice as you get a new engine and a nice classic at once (although I prefer the classic myself)
Just to muddy the waters, JT just released its "Advanced" 153 which HAS been updated to 2012 standards. And it's on sale! I'm not a passenger fan, and can't see why you'd want more than one 15X DMU. The cab on the 156 is awful nice though.
I think I'll get the Pendo when they release the update. It's going to have some WCML scenarios.
How's that for helpful?!
