Hi, I hope this will be fairly straightforward to explain. Is it possible to create a siding minus the buffer stops? I need to create a siding that ends with a low earth bank and a sleeper laid across the running rails. Is it possible to create a section of track that does not have the buffer stop at the end? Secondly, is it possible to create check rails for tightly curved pieces of track? They are very common in real life but I have yet to see them in TS2012 or its predecessors.

Re: Bufferless sidings and check rails.
there are no track sections that include a check rail (that i know of). however, you can (and i think this has been done) create a loft check rail that you can offset to the inside of the rail. not too sure on the bufferless track however.it possible to create check rails for tightly curved pieces of track?

Re: Bufferless sidings and check rails.
Yes you can do this. What track are you using? If you are using one of the default track, make a copy of the relevant track .bin file. Open this copy with RWTools and change the Display name to something like 'trackname No Buffers'.
Find the section
And delete the product, provider and blueprint id entries. In this case delete Kuju, RailSimulator and RailNetwork\Buffers\york_newc_Buffer01.xml
Do the same with the section <EndGeometryBPID>. Save the file, clear the cache, start RW and your track will be available for selection and show without buffers.
The same applies if you are using non-default track; only the product and provider entries will possibly be different in that case.
As for the second part to your question, as far as I know, the only way to do what you wish is to lay a rail loft offset from the centre of the track. This gives an effect like this:

This may be of some use to you if you do not already have it.

Bufferless sidings and check rails.
You could just add a short run of the default no sleeper track to lose the buffers.
There's a procedural rail in 3 flavours in the Chaddock turntable and water columns kit, though make sure it's the latest version. Offset by about .6 m to use as a check rail, and turn the ends in slightly.

Only "problem" with this is the sleeperless track will be floating as there is no track bed modelledbdy26 wrote:You could just add a short run of the default no sleeper track to lose the buffers.

Re: Bufferless sidings and check rails.
True, but if you only lay a foot or two its barely noticeable.

Hi
An alternative way of achieving bufferless sidings is to lay the track a few metres longer than you need, put a gradient marker/point where you want the end of the siding to be and then pull the end of the track underground.
Cheers
Bob
(So I was telling porkies in the other thread. I have used gradient points on trackwork.
