Help Question - Does anyone remember the NSE years?

Post by tubemad »

Hello all,

I'm putting this question on another forum too just to get some more answers, in case they don't use this board as well.
I'm making an activity for MSTS set in 1992, and I know most the locals were NSE 455s and longer routes being 421/423 or 442s for the SWML.

I mainly need help with the other bits:

1. Woking yard, I believe this was an engineering point, so I'd assume there was OCA's and other engineering related stuff with a 33 or 73 in? I can't also remember if 73129 was in NSE at this point. Also, I know in the 80s that Parcel vans were kept there in the day, was there parcel vans still knocking around in '92?

2. Clapham Yard, did this keep some NSE Mk2 rakes there and the odd 33, 47 or 50 stabled there? I don't know if anyone remembers the yard in '92?

3. Eastleigh, one thing that I can get right is what to put in the yard. Engineers is one I guess, but I could get away with putting tanks (TEA or TTA), freightliner flats, Railfreight boxes and some locos?

4. MoD Traffic, I have seen a picture of an MoD train in the 90s, but it was at a station and the rest of the train was under the canopy and made it very dark. I could make out a Railfreight box van at the front, was that all the Andover or Marchwood train had, just a small rake of Railfreight vans?

5. The Pompey/Southampton locals from Westbury etc. I assume it was simply RR Class 158s, 150s and maybe 155s?

I remember most of these years but I never was down in Southampton, Eastleigh etc, I just remember Didcot and the GWML with proper loud HSTs, 165/166s, 60s, 58s etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Regards,

James.

73129 was still in NSE in 92, most of the old parcel vans would have been long gone by 92.
Clapham Yard, did this keep some NSE Mk2 rakes there and the odd 33, 47 or 50 stabled there? I don't know if anyone remembers the yard in '92?
50's were well on the way out by then, replaced by the 47/7s, so the nse mk2's would still have been there along with the odd 33.
MoD Traffic
In 92 that could have been anywhere, the mass movements of MOD stuff by rail had pretty much finished by then.
