[MK2E] Deltic Swansong scenario ERROR

Post by Energo7535 »

Hello,
Several days ago I asked for help at Steam forum but still no reply there and I decided that maybe here I'll get something...
I have a BIG problem with that scenario. This is NOT connected with any AI crashes. I faced with one after the first station but saving the progress helped as usual.
My problem always appears at one place - near Darlington. Right at the place when the train is moving from main line to the station siding. The game simply freezes and stop responding. I tried nearly everything - different speeds, different cameras, checked for possible track errors - nothing helps. The game freezes always in the same point and I have to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to terminate the process. I must say that this is the only one problem with RW I ever faced after more than a year of experience.
What can it be? So far I feel that I'm the only one with such strange problem.

Have you tried following through the standard steps for troubleshooting yet?

Yes, I tried everything and get the same game freeze every time at the same place when I cross the main line right close to the Darlington station.

At first glance, it would look like a resources problem, but I could be wrong.
Are you running with TSX turned on? if yes, have you tried with it turned off?
Have you tried reducing the graphics settings in the options tab?
Are you running the game full screen? if yes, have you tried running in a window with a reduced resolution?

Yes I run the game at full screen max settings but even in window more with TSX off and EAX off etc with already about 50 different tests game freezes at the same point. I had never errors with RW before and passed this route near Darlington dozens of times without any problems but now it is impossible to cross the mainline with those MK2Es. And even without them - I even tried to uncouple and proceed with loco only :)

As far as I can see, due to the fact that the collision 10 miles or so out from Darlington has never been fixed (this starting after an update some time ago), there are inherent problems in this scenario - and you would need to email DT support to get it looked at once more.

Unfortunately the last thread regarding errors in this scenario was locked and therefore cannot be added to but, as I say, I don't believe that the error from back then has been rectified.

HTH.

It's a Digital Traction scenario isn't it?

After full reinstall I managed to locate the "weak" place. It is connected with one of AP sound packs, not with DT scenario. Already emailed to AP = hope the problem will be fixed soon.

Now after nearly 1 week I must say that this is a very strange problem and is somehow connected with AP Valenta sound pack. While Richard is trying to figure out what may be wrong there with code or scenarios I want to ask your opinion -
I can't understand how some sound pack can affect the game this way... I mean I have already 2 scenarios from DT and both force the game completely freeze.
There must be some of you who have Valenta and this scenario = can you please test it again and check if you can arrive to Darlington at least?
I tried different resolutions, window and full screen modes, EAX and no EAX, different detail levels - EVERYTHING. Nothing helped. From time to time I managed to caught the following error message:
ERROR: Expected a cControlContainer :: cChildControl, got a cControlContainer :: CabInterior
FILE: D:\build\Core\Reliase\Code\Libs\Foundation\API\core /cFxException.h
LINE: 113

What can it be?

Just tried this scenario. I am getting a game over error, about five miles north of Darlington.

Train derailment due to an AI collision (6G52 Longitude=-1.52367 Latitude=54.67143)

There's an HST that's straddling the main track, and has a start time about 10 minutes or so later than the AI that is supposed to pass it... Which means it ends up getting rear-ended by said AI.

What I get is not AI crash of any kind.
This is 100% another case and this is the problem :(
Everything is okay without Valenta sound pack and 100% freeze with the pack and only at 2 scenarios so far at the same places always.

Sorry, I did try to test it for you but I can't get closer to Darlington because of the scenario crash.
