Morning all and a happy new year.
Good news for those of us running Asus Xonar sound cards. When i had XP - enabling the GX button would result in a crash to desktop and a SBHH.
Now I'm running W7 64 Ultimate and using the 64 bit drivers for the Asus Xonar card - the GX button can now be enabled without the crash.
Changed the channels from the default 2 up to 8 (as per recommendation from Asus control panel for 3D gaming)
I experience total immersion now and that's only from the default sounds.I can only presume the crashes from XP were some kind of memory address
conflict when running a 32 bit OS.
Any questions I'll be happy to help.
Cheers
Daz

Hi Martin
I really have no idea as to why this works for me and not you, another observation from the XP days,if I enabled EAX when playing railworks
I would get echoes all over - you could still hear train sounds half a mile away.I don't get that now - the sounds are correct - but no EAX
(I know this is only for Creative cards)

Re: Asus Xonar - GX Mode Working
Hi Daz, just downloaded these 64 bit drivers and cleaned the old drivers out using driver cleaner and restarting then installing the new drivers, with GX enabled it indeed does not crash RW's anymore, however EAX still does not work? still no reverb in game or cab occlusion? Are you sure you have those features? What settings in RW's are you using? EAX & force mixing? Cheers
Best Regards

Re: Asus Xonar - GX Mode Working
I don't get cab and tunnel occlusion or any EAX effect ,whether I check the Enable EAX or software mixing box.
This is how mine is set up -
Open the DG Audio centr,.make sure the MAIN button at the bottom is pressed
Audio channel - 8 channels (i was running this with 2 all this time)click the question mark for explanation
Sample rate - PCM 96 Khz
2 speakers
GX mode enabled
Enable EAX - not checked
Enable software mixing - not checked.
With 8 channels enabled instead of the default 2,quality has improved.
Hope this helps.

Re: Asus Xonar - GX Mode Working
Hi Fellas heres my input. I did have an ASUS Xonar installed on W7 64bit OS. It did not crash my system but I never ever got it to work with Railworks. Consequently I had to fit a Creative Titanium to get some amount of EAX (albeit with the deafening Tunnel/bridge effects..) Its a shame as the ASUS card is fantastic on other sims I use! Cheers M

Strange isn't it, the Asus card emulates EAX but it does not work? Wonder why?
