SBHH and scenario creation.

Trains and Routes only entertain so far, what you need are engaging and entertaining scenarios. Here's where you can learn how to make bigger, better scenarios and really bring your virtual train world alive.

SBHH and scenario creation.

Post by dougiec »

I'd been creating some scenarios for RW Edinburgh - Glasgow, prior to the RW3 2012 update. I had four scenarios, working perfectly until the new release. 3 out of 4 of them still work pretty well, but I've had a right headache trying to get one scenario in particular to work, and I cannot figure out why, even after several hours of trouble shooting this evening. I scrapped it and decided to start again.

Basically, I've got a scenario for Edinburgh - Glasgow, placed the player train, and a handful of AI trains, ran a full test, and all goes well. I place one further AI train, and gone to test the scenario, and it loads fine, starts running, and then suddenly freezes at a certain point. No explanation, RW just crashes, and I have to return to windows to see the SBHH message, and would I like to save a diagnostic file etc...

Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? The train in question is placed at the EDB end of the Haymarket South tunnel, just before the signal heading toward EDB, it draws up to the signal 1 minute into the scenario, and then once an outbound AI train passes, it starts to proceed toward EDB, but RW freezes the split second after it passes that signal.

If any one knows of any possible solutions, I'd be very pleased to hear them, and also if anyone would care to volunteer to test the scenario, and see if they get the same result. You will require E-G route, Scotrail & SPT 170, Scotrail 158, Scotrail 156 and the Class 380. PM if you'd be able to do this for me. Thanks in advance. :D

EDIT: Further investigations reveal the crash has nothing to with the AI train passing a signal. Anyway, I'm giving up for tonight!
Also, is that diagnostic file any use to any one? Can it be sent to someone to possibly identify the cause? Meanwhile, I'm going to trouble shoot a little more until my patience dies out!

A further update on this problem.

Managed to resolve it by re-timing the AI train a little, and this fixed the issue. Managed to place all the remaining AI trains and all seemed to be well. Started a full test run, got as far as Linlithgow, and shortly after, whilst passing an AI train, it freezes again with SBHH!

Is there anywhere I can send these diagnostic files to try and get to the bottom of the problem? If I keep having this problem I will stop creating scenarios as my patience won't stand it!

Any help is much appreciated, and if anyone wants to volunteer to test it and see if they get similar results, please give me a shout.

Just had a wee think about this. Is Kuju/RailSimulator ticked in the Asset Provider's List? It isn't by default on the E-G route & IIRC, the Class 158 references default couplings.

Thanks Malky. Will give this a shot tonight. Am dying to try it but I have to go to work, so will try it when I get back tonight. Will let you know how I get on!

Cheers! :D

Well tried ticking Kuju/Rail Simulator in the asset window, still no luck. Freezes at the exact same moment. I'm going to try taking off TSX and seeing if that makes any difference.

Any other ideas?

EDIT: Turning TSX off didn't solve the problem.

Ok, retimed the AI train that it kept freezing as I pass, and now it is alright at that point. But as I pass another AI train later on, it freezes in exactly the same manner. Could it have something to do with passing a Class 158 at speed? In both places it has been freezing, I have been passing a 158.

Any thoughts?

This is just a thought but... the issue the OP describes usually has something to do with the game engine not loading something properly, be it an: AI destination, loco collision, engine sound, bin file, etc...

scenario creation on it's own will rarely cause this problem, however if the problem occurs at the same place each time it could mean that the AI is at fault.

I have a further update on this phenomenon.

I ran the scenario again tonight, and this time, as the train approaches the exact position of the recurring problem, I pressed number 8, left the cab and moved up toward the sky a tad, and the two trains passed without RW crashing, and I was able to complete the scenario.

So this gives me the impression that it could be sound related, although that is just an idea.

If any one has any ideas, please do let me know. Still waiting on my response from the RW guys.

Also, I had a volunteer test they scenario, and the experienced the exact same problem.
