I'm puzzled! Please help!

Post by whiterider »

Hi everyone,
Could anyone help me with this problem, I have been silly and not been doing speed limits along the way and so the speed limit throughout my route is 125 and I want to make all track 55, with the exception of certain pieces but I can change them myself. I have finally managed to select the whole route and got a multiple track rules and so I could change the speed :( I will be thankful for any help! Also, if anyone would like to BETA test the route and/or lay signals etc. then please PM me. The thread to my route is here: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 4&t=120329
Thanks,
Jason

First up I suggest you make your own track rule. You will be able to specify your own default speed which you can set to 55mph.
Secondly, you will not be able to change the track rule of the track you have already laid. You will need to relay this track again I'm afraid.

For the track rules:

Once you have set up your track rule, you can go back and relay your track.

You can change the track rule after you've laid the track. It's the same process of changing track, and also the only way to add wobble to pre Rw3 routes. Essentially you have to edit the tracks.bin file to swap out all refs to the old rule(s) to the new one. Not the official way of course, and back up first.

PM if you need a hand

There's a very useful tutorial on how to change track on Mike Simpson's RWTools website. It's exactly the same principle for changing track rules. Have to say I haven't tried it where multiple track rules are involved, though I can't see why it shouldn't. As Ben says though, be sure to back up before you even think of opening the files involved

Does that actually work though? By changing the track rules references in the tracks.bin using RWTools then all track previously laid now has the new track rules property?

It doesn't contain the property immediately, but it does give the opportunity to apply the new properties supplied with RW3.

Thanks for the help.
So does this mean I will have to restart the route or is there a way to relay track in exactly the same place as it was originally?
If anyone wanted to relay the track I've done with the new track property thingy, then I would be extremely grateful. I would be able to continue from there.
I am also using the Hudson tunnel from the NEC pack and so won't that be awkward to change.
I am still going to try and use the select tool and just do sections, and hopefully it will work - eventually :P
Thanks for your help PM if you would like to help or email me at: Crosscitytrains.jason@gmx.com

If you change the track rule and swap out all the track rule entries in the tracks.bin file you won't need to relay any track. The track will keep the properties it was laid with, but you can easily change the properties in the usual way by selecting it. Infinitely quicker than relaying the track again.

How do I do that?
The selecting the track takes ages for me because whenever I get to a certain point it says that there are multiple track rules and so when I select parts I now have to select tiny parts.
Thanks,
