Where is the logic?

Here is something that brought a smile to my face
I have always liked having a whistling kettle
I decided to see if Amazon sell them?
Sure enough they do
Here is the funny bit
Some customers have purchased one and then grumbled because.......It whistles

Made me smile too Whatever I purchase, I try to seek out the reviews before I part with my cash but some reviews should be saved and placed in a hall of the most ridiculous whinges ever recorded!!. One I noticed a little while ago was for a garden hose reel, it states that it came with a 3 or 5 metre hose and one disgruntled customer complained it did no reach to the end of their 30 mtr garden?!!!

Out of interest, how is your whistling kettle?,

Good morning Mark and Alec
I've had my whistling kettle about 4 years now
I was just curious to see if Amazon sold them hence looking them up
It is astonishing though that some reviewers grumble about the silliest of things
Here is another one to make you smile
When the street lamps were upgraded to the new High Pressure Sodium ....I thought they were a big improvement
However some neighbours thought differently and grumbled about them being too bright keeping them awake
One resident mentioned this at a meeting and I couldn't resist asking have you heard of using curtains
Needless to say the street lamps have now been turned down and look dreary

Was there an episode of " One Foot in the Grave " where the street lamp and fallen through his bedroom window?. As my missus often refers me to being a close relation to Victor Meldrew, that's probably why I remember it

How often with reviews do you see 10 people giving 5 out of 5 with rave review and one person scoring 1 with nothing positive to say! As they say, you can't please everyone all the time.

Still, if we were all the same, life would be boring, please let there be people who are never pleased if only to keep the rest of us amused!!

Not the picture I had in my mind Stephen!, so this is a modern take of a whistling kettle. What happened to the little cap with the block knob on the end?, the one when you burnt your fingers when you tried to pull it off? if you could get it off that is!!!

We bought a new kettle a few months ago, which states on the box "Ultra quite " !!! It resembles the sound of a large aircraft taking off from Heathrow Just don't make them like they used to, I guess!

Right then, time to set it to take off and make another brew

My Gran had a whistling kettle from which I received many a burnt finger
They were tricky removing the cap without doubt
Some also had a dodgy handle that also became extremely hot
One of my whistling kettles had a trigger mechanism that lifted the cap
Having a water meter I only fill the kettle to boil enough water for one mug of tea

If only I can educate my missus to do the same, not that she makes tea/coffee very often!. If I ask her to put the kettle on, she fills it to capacity for one mug? then, the remainder goes cold! Long given up on this one.

Hello again Stephen. Youv'e sent me back down memory lane.
The old aluminum whistling kettle comes to mind. I can still hear it, memory is a marvelous thing.
All them years ago, when I was a young teenager, I was working for "George Mence Smith". Anyone remember that old chain of ironmongery and hardware stores, long gone now.
No self service, back then our customers would queue up in the shop waiting to be served. A much more happy friendlier time then now, with banter and gossip going on all around. If a "madam" was buying a whistling kettle I would test the whistle by blowing through it. Often this resulted in a second or even a third sale along the queue. 3.71/2d comes to mind (three shillings and sevenpence halfpenny ) about 17p today.

17 pence for a kettle....wow!
The kettle in the photo has a good sturdy handle
Some of them were quite dangerous with a high risk of receiving burns and scalds
It's funny that when you start delving looking at kettles some of them are very expensive
