DBGHELP.DLL not found

Post by growler37 »

Hi,been away form route building for quite a while, but thought it was time to continue ,Penzance to Plymouth, but seem to be getting this error message.
i get DBGHELP.DLL not found error,at various times whilst in the route editor,it has the same effect as SBHH, (crashes program).
I know this DLL is in RW2,i have a backed up copy, but it appears it is not included in my steam RW3 folder, should it be there? if not, i am at a loss to explain the error.
Regards
Kevin

Hello,

DBGHelp does not appear in my railworks folder. Looking on-line, it seems to be part of Microsoft's debugging tools. I found this page at Microsoft's MSDN site that provides more info.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 85%29.aspx
I'm not sure what version would be applicable for your version of Windows though.

An alternative would be to search your drive for the missing DLL or just copy the one from your backup into your railworks folder I guess.

Hope it helps,

Shad

I think DBGHELP.DLL is a Steam file used for Steam error reporting. It's present in my Steam folder and also in my System 32 windows folder.
Not sure but what I would try is reinstalling Steam.

Best regards,

Rather than an uninstall/reinstall routine, the best way to force Steam to self-repair is to delete everything in the Steam folder but Steam.exe and the steamapps folder. Then open Steam.exe, which will force it to self-download the files needed to rebuild the installation.

Afternoon everyone,

I also have started getting this error, but only over the past 7 - 10 days, and only when running the Western Rails route!.
All goes well for a while, then the error pops up, and on hitting OK, the SBHH happens...
The .dll file though is still in the Steam directory. There is also another in Windows\System32 folder, but of a different size.

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

I've been getting this as well so I updated both the WIN32 folder and the Railworks one as the dll file is in both!? Still throws up the error saying it's not present but...it is! Very peculiar, must be a MS special

Any Ideas

Been getting this sometimes on loading Woodhead on my old rig and not every time.

The .dll is in the RW2 folder, but not RW3 - anyone have any idea if it is required, and if so, is there anything else that is needed to point to it?

I do not get this error on any other route that I have - payware or freeware.

No point in giving my computer specs - old and not sparkling, but it can run everything up to Horseshoe (not WCMLN under RW3 - though beautifully under RW2 :) ).
