G'day yet again !
I'm just pottering around with all kinds of stuff, now that I have my more powerful desktop computer back, as of yesterday, and have set it up to some degree, with Windows VistaHome Premium, etc. I want to try out the original version of Rail Simulator, I bought, on a DVD disk. I've gotten it setup nicely, at the moment, and have noted that the keys that should control the throttle, don't seem to respond at all. I think I may recall something about this, if it was to concern keyboard mapping or something. Does installing the USA version of Rail Simulator, fix this, or what ? I faintly remember something regarding this, but what was it ? Was there some upgrade for the original version of RS ? And where is it now ? Anything to remember, in particular about this ? The bar along the lower-part of the RS screen, with the throttle readings, the reverser showing forward & reverse, etc. Good, but no percentages of travel of the reverser, in the case of steam driving. Can anyone please offer some help here, with everything covered if possible, that I've asked about... would be very much appreciated, thanks. Just awaiting a reply from Steam regarding my query about access to Steam once again. Can't recall everything I put in last time, and the paper gets lost easily ! Cheers.
Regards...
Jim McDermott

Re: More help needed...
You could browse the RailSimulator forums to maybe see if any threads/ posts there might relate to what you're asking.
But here's a thread I think of interest to you:
http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 7&t=112529
Check out my post there (post #3) with some links of where you can find the "MK1" and "MK2" updates for RailSimulator along with some other stuff.
Though I don't know if those updates will resolve the keys-not-responding problem for you or why your keys aren't being recognized, perhaps some Windows settings conflicting or something with your particular model of keyboard isn't compatible with your version of RailSimulator?
Or it could be, that for some locos (such as for Steam locos), that in fact the keys are responding, but you don't see the amount / percentage of the throttle & reverser (then you think no response from pressing those keys), and you may not see anything happening until the throttle and/or reverser are set in proper increments accordingly. So keep holding the key in question for a bit longer as it could take a while to see any kind of response from some locos. But, I'm just guessing here, it's been a while since I played around with RailSimulator as I mainly use RailWorks now (RW3 or TS2012 or whatever they call it now)
But yeah, try installing those MK1 and MK2 updates. Also, F3 I think brings up the HUD then, and/or F5 brings up the text-style HUD? Well, see if F3, F4, F5 keys will bring up some kind of HUDs in which you can get a better idea of what's happening.

Re: More help needed...
No idea on the keyboard issue sorry.
One of the quirks with that F4 display during the RS days was that only showed F/R even for steam locomotives. To drive a steam loco properly you'll need the extra info found in the F5 data display anyway.
Good luck with dealing with Steam about getting your account restored. I have heard from others who have lost control of their account in some way that while it can be time-consuming they will come through for you in the end once they are satisfied that you are who you claim you are.
