Please, can you do a test for me?

Post by 2slow4u »

Running TS 2012 with simplified controls and HUD (F4) OFF:

Can you control with the mouse, the brakes levers of Class 47?
Can you control with the mouse the reverser and throttle levers of BR101? (the German loco)

Please, let me know!

Many thanks!

I have the same problem with the mouse-operated cab brakes on the class 47. I reported it to RS.com support and they replied that the brake levers do work, you just need to be precise as to where you place the cursor before it changes from a pointer to a hand. I tried again and found the positioning of the cursor needs to be extremely precise to get the loco brake to work but in spite of repeated attempts I still have not managed to control the train brake with the mouse. In practice, neither of the brake controls are of any practical use as they stand (although the throttle and reverser both work fine). I went back to support to suggest they increased the "hot-spot" size but I am still waiting for any change to be applied.

Sorry, I can't comment on the German BR101 as I haven't tried it.

Your Youtube video illustrates the problem perfectly, far better than my efforts at trying to describe it. In your video, the pointer changed to a hand very briefly over the loco brake handle on the 47 but nothing on the train brake, exactly as I found. In practice, it is impossible to use the controls as they stand.

It ought not to be too big a job for RS.com to fix. Hopefully if a few people have reported it, it will get fixed in the near future.

I thought this was a general problem. I have not been able to get the train brake control to work at all and as you say the loco brake is almost impossible to use but can with extreme care.

Email sent to support. The more people that report it the higher priority it will get.

exactly...
I will not use hud never, even under torture, and use of the keyboard, for me, belongs to the time of MSTS.
The mouse control in a 3D cab environment, is one of the key features of RW/TS2012 and should work!

There is another problem with the class 47 which becomes evident if you try and run the "Black Gold" scenario in Hedborough North.

Part way through the scenario you need to change direction with the train and use the Ctrl + keys to change ends in the cab. If you then try and put the wipers on in cab-view, using either the mouse on the wiper control or the icon in the HUD view (necessary because it is raining) they don't work. If you go into helicopter external view having put the wiper switch on, the wipers are animated and working at both ends. Change back to the cab-view at the other end (now facing the train) and they work fine!

After a minute or so of running without the wipers there is so much rain on the windscreen you can't see out!

I have reported this problem to support also.

Just tried this scenario again and the wiper controls work fine PROVIDED you change cab-end (Ctrl +) while the loco is stationary.

If you change ends while the loco is moving, then the wiper cxontrols at the opposite end don't work!

Just need the brake controls fixing now!

The wipers also don't match up in cab and external views.

From outside view they are like \ / viewed from the front.
From the cab view they are / \ when looking forward.

Reminds me of the Kiha 31 in the original MSTS where they got the inside textures mixed up.

i have also sent emails regarding this problem but whether or not it'll be fixed is another thing. i emailed them regarding the Hall Class brake level going the wrong direction to apply the brakes and they said they were currently fixing it. that was 2 weeks after it was released, and still nothing's been fixed, even the king class has the incorrect direction in its cab, completely opposite of what the texture in the cab next to the brake says. Are they doing it deliberately to wind us up? hmmmm

Well after all the effort they put into revamping the class 166, redoing the model, altering the performance, and improving the sounds (as well as the actual game improvements), I'm shocked, saddened, and extremely disappointed that they still haven't fixed the combined brake power handle. Last time I drove it on free roam, I was pulling into Tilehurst, tried to make 3 brake applications and every time it went straight to emergency, then I tried to apply power to pick up some of the speed I lost, and it went to emergency brake again. Did such a large team really not pick up on it? And now almost every RW user knows the problem, and some have emailed RW, and it's still not been fixed after nearly 2 months. :-?

In any other driving game or any simulator this most basic flaw with the accelerator/brake control would not be tolerated at all.

My locomotive and train brakes on the class 47 are CONFIRMED not working with the mouse.

This is the most irritating part of the whole affair, to deny the evidence amounts to consider we stupid!
