Thomson's Edinburgh - Glasgow Payware route.

Post by TransportSteve »

I can't seem to find a relevant thread for any questions on this route, so, thought I'd pop one on here.

Is anybody suffering the rubber banding effect anywhere on the line, I had this right from Cadder Yard across to Falkirk, is this just me, or, an endemic problem???

Also, how do you get out of Eastfield TMD to the north, there never used to be a headshunt and buffers blocking any departures onto the main line, is this how the depot looks nowadays, from the game's operational point of view this restricts all movements, has anyone informed Thomsons of their little faux pas.

This is indeed how the depot is laid out these days. Northbound departures normally reverse on the Springburn lines.

Yeah, I've had a look at Google Earth for 2011, and it's spot on for today's modern replication of the depot, however, many of us are old school and remember the days of steam and BR Corporate Blue and Railfreight, and I'd love to replicate the working duties from the 1960's, 70's, 80's and early 1990's before the depot closed down, but, that's impossible in its present format and there was no mention on Thomson's website that it would be just a very modern basic layout.

Uh, when 170s were included it'd be pretty obvious that it'd be a modern-day setting, if you ask me?

I would have liked to see Eastfield set in the eighties, much the same as it's been done in MSTS, but I suppose we have to move on with the times.
Never been a fan of the 170's but they're easy to drive with the combined throttle/brake. ( just one lever on the "RailDriver". :P )
But then I'm old enough to remember steam at Queen Street, "Queen of Scots" Pullman, LNER pacifics and "Black Fives & STD 5's on the Fort Bill trains. :P

Yeah, I'm getting the rubber-banding on this route but for me its occuring between Falkirk and Bo'ness Junction.

I'm seeing this with more than one scenario too.

don't know if it's been brought up by anyone else but in TSX mode, i have a really weird lighting issue going on throughout the entire route where everything is just um, dull? I'll get a screen shot if no one has a clue what i'm talking about...

More likely the settings in the TimeOfDay .bin files need tweaking. In another thread it was suggested using the settings from the Horseshoe Curve route as this was designed specially for the TSX engine. The Edinburgh-Glasgow route also has the sun shining from the north. Once again this is easily rectified and can be corrected by changing the azimuth setting from 1 to -0.45 which puts the sun in the right part of the sky.

Yea, I had this too, its been brought up before (everything is bright around the POV untill you look about 20ft into the distance and all you see is a weird fog all around). Unfortunately you will need to redownload the route via steam to solve the issue, everything else I tried in the past to try to solve it didnt work.

And has anyone else noticed how shiny the Class 170 has become in TSX mode? Try the E-G Eastbound scenario and look at the front of the train!!

I have the opposite problem - in non-TSX mode everything appears washed out. It's like the saturation has been turned right up on the TV! With TSX mode on it looks normal.

I think Thomson missed a great oportunity with this route. If they had included the line through Falkirk Grahmston, the Grangemouth line down to the MPD, Yard, Docks, and Refinery and also the branch line down to Kinniel Pit from Boness Junction with its sidings, then the scope for Many interesting workings would have been immense. It the seventies there was still an extensive track layout at Grangemouth and the MPD still even had a turntable!
Cheers,
Stewart.
