Just add it to the command line in Steam

So right click on RAilworks in your library

Click on properties, then Launch Options in the General tab.. Then add "-FPSLimit=25" or whatever number you want

I am running Windows 7 64 bit. Here is a picture of the Railworks.exe properties window, and I do not see an area called Launch Options. Pasting the command line on the end of the Railworks.exe line resulted in failure. Please be more specific as to where I need to put the command line info.

Hi dick

You are looking in the wrong place. You do this in the Steam client as described by ightenhill.

No, you set it in Steam. Go to the games list. Right click on your TrainSim 2012, and click on Properties, and then the button called launch options, and then type in the line above "-FPSLimit=25" or whatever you want. I set mine for 30, and it works great, but I put in the launch options so I don't have to remember to click the box in settings everytime I start.

EDIT: someone posted pics of the right place as I was typing this.

I have a similar problem as you- I was getting low fps but smoothish running under 6.7c but now every engine shakes and jumps all the time no matter what scenario or whether TSX is on or off. Judging by the general level of approval for the latest version we have to have something wrong in our set up but so far I haven't found it. You specs are more up-to-date than mine. I have emailed RS.com with the problem.

It sounds like something gone bad in the down load - time to verify and get a bite of lunch while you can.

Maybe you should check drivers and stuff, but if they are up-to-date and you setting are reasonable, then is must be download glitch - possibly followed by a missing clear cache - it rarely hurts to clear the cache and its fast. Sorry, must run, got a train to catch.

I have just tested a scenario I tried to make where my train would follow behind another train, before the update the train infront would just crawl for no reason, after the update it still sadly crawls

Thanks but I have verified the cache twice tonight and defragmented it but it still stutters along. I also cleared the blueprints cache in case that is what you meant but again no change I'm afraid. Version 7.1 seems to have increased the GPU load (40% v 35%), uses less GPU memory (513mb v 528mb) and less RAM (52% v 60%) than 6.7. No idea whether that means anything but no matter what setting nor whether TSX is on or off, 7.1 shakes about.

Thanks for your help

Has anyone else experienced a disappearing .exe file during the latest client update and TS2012 update. The combination of the two renders my game 'unavailable' / unable to run. This results in having to run a lengthy file verification process and 'repair' process. This has happened twice now - from the last two updates and quite frankly I'd rather be playing trains then spending most of my evening sorting out my game...again! :x

Onwards rewardless..

Just turned my PC on this morning to find a Steam update had taken place - around 320MB. Any ideas what's been updated? I've had a quick look in the assets folder so see what has changed but I couldn't find anything.

There was a small update yesterday which added some stuff to the AllaboardCore assets folder, presumably in preparation for the Ohio Steel expansion being released on Steam.
