Hi Folks.
Quite a while since I had to post a newbie question! I apologise if this has already been answered - I did spend about 20 minutes with the search facility, but couldn't find anything. This could be down to my being blind as the proverbial bat, of course.....
Anyhow, I have been dragged, kicking and screaming, into the world of Windows 7 (I'm perfectly happy with XP, but realise I need to 'get with the times' - I only purchased RW2 6 months ago too!). Everything is working fine, aside from an odd issue with RailWorks.
I've only tried RW3 / TS2012 under Win7, and whilst most things are just fine, the text that is displayed is almost illegible. All other graphics are fine, but all text on menus, driver aids (I don't know their proper name in RW, so I'll stick to the old MSTS names for now!) and the 2D map looks as though it has been rendered in a very low resolution, and my TFT has made a very poor attempt to upscale it. I have RW set to my monitors native resolution of 1280x1024, and as I say, everything else is spot on. Text displayed as part of a graphic is fine, such as load screens and cab graphics.
RW3 is working perfectly under XP.
I was wondering if anyone else has seen this, and if so, would they be willing to help someone who really should know better!
Cheers
Gaz

The only Windows-related explanation I can think of is whether you have "smooth edges of on-screen fonts" selected.
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.

You have an ATI card with morphological AA by chance and have it turned on in CCC?

Re: Almost illegible text under Win 7
I'm pretty sure I have 'smooth fonts' disabled, although it's certainly worth a check.
I do have an ATI card, but had never heard of morphological AA until now. I usually have AA disabled completely - certainly the case with XP, but I could have missed this when customising the settings under Win7.
I'll check both suggestions next time I'm on the desktop.
Cheers

EDIT - just realised a point in my original post is clear as mud. Of course I have run RW3 under both XP and Win7 - I meant to say that I hadn't used RW2 under Win7, so had no idea if that was also affected.

I think Railworks relies on the "smooth edges of fonts" option being *on* for the HUD stuff. It still works without that, just looks dodgy.
