Hello folks,
I'm wishing to collect some information and brainstorming to see if anyone has also encountered this problem with both funnel smoke from kettles and exshaust clag from diesels. I noticed this came in a few patches ago with Railworks 2, its not in reference to the sudden "balloon smoke" which locomotives got but more of where the smoke comes from the emitters. For me since that patch and now in TS2012 smoke while comes out is considerably jerky, shakey and flickering from where the emitters are, Its fine once its cleared the emitter area on the model about a CM or two from it and its flowing like it used to but around the emitters its just incredibly wacky.
So has anyone else seen this problem, potential fixes or is it something which RS.com will need to look into to get it smooth again?
I have it happen on everything, was there after a fresh install of TS2012 and still remains there afterall the patches so I know its a presistant problems. Its not a FPS drop either since evrything else is fluid onscreen and running at 50FPS with no issue, it also gets considerably more jerky and worse as speed increases.
Someone in the past, I do not recall the poster, mentioned that it had something to do with physx and that smoke effects and animation had moved over onto it to move better, yet it doesn't seem to have done anything but cause the wierd jerky and shakey smoke from the emitter area. Its also presisted through two different graphics cards, one from ATI and one from Nvidia so I don't believe its something to do with the graphics card either.
I did email support about this is the past but nothing seem to come of it, if more than just me have it then I'm going to drop a mail and ask folks do the same so it can be fixed, as its somewhat distracting and unrealistic aswell as glitchy on diesels and kettles.

I've seen this too, but only since the TS2012 Upgrade
Also the Loco sound gets very choppy, but no detrement to the FPS.

Jerky smoke came with a Railworks 2 update.. Forget which one but it's been around well before TS 2012.

Yeah, was ... the last major RW2 version I think. It is a good indicator of stutter and how much better/worse your RW3 install is. At the moment all we can do is make hazier emitters, it's less noticeable then.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

Thanks for the replies, I'm glad to see its not just my installation which is acting crazy and that my memory does serve me well and recalled it from a RW2 patch. It certainly is more noticable now with TS2012 that is for sure.
Hm, I'll drop a email in with support and see if I get any joy out of it, hopefully it goes on a "to do" list, of course its not as urgent as other problems but it does detract away from the simulator when it doesn't flow out smoothly.
