Class 50 Release...Soon!

Post by MikeTrams »

Hey all,

This project what started out to be rather simple upgrade has turned into something a bit special. With lots of new features and advanced sounds. Hopefully this will raise the quality bar for future add-ons we will do. With RW3 coming out soon I hope things will be even better. Not long now. :) We've put quite a few hours into it, tweaking, changing and breaking it until we can get it right, not a lot to do now...I hope. :)

Since the live stream many things have changed and improved. Hopefully it will be something for everyone to enjoy. :)

One of the main aspects we wanted to look at and improve were three things.

Quality of the graphics.
Sounds.
Additional scripted features.

So, close up detail and making smooth mesh so we don't get any sharp poly edges.

In cab muffle sounds, when opening the window the muffle will clear.
Advanced sound fades.
Miner extra sounds, like traction motor sounds and window slam sounds.

Temperature controlled vents.
RPM Delay.
Accurate Physics.

There is more...I just don't want to make a huge list. :)

Few pictures...

Happy to hear any comments. :)

Cheers,
Mike

Were there really Class 50s in green? I thought they had BR Blue from delivery, seeing as they were delivered in the late 60s?

Correct - only 50044 has carried 2-tone green and that was in preservation, though 50007 had GW green from 1985 until withdrawal

Other than the renamed Edward Elgar in GW green, not in BR service - but there's been at least one in preservation painted green.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

Absolutely perfect modelling, Mike! I like especially windows texturing and cab looks very photorealistic. 10 out of 10.

D444 Exeter carries/d two tone BR green in preservation, but you're right, none carried the livery in the course of their working life. The exception is 50007 Sir Edward Elgar, renamed and repainted into Brunswick green in 1984 for the 50th anniversary of the composer's death

A very good update, Mike.

Any chance the windows (from exterior) can be made to look darker/less translucent?

Very nice Mike! My only criticism would be the font for the pre-tops numbering.

Will this replace the existing meshtool Class50? I got a bunch of scenarios for that one.
