Not tried Ridin. the Chief but in the winter scenario I also was rammed headon by an empty coal train whilst waiting at a red signal.

Does that mean both Cajon scenarios need fixing. If so that is a shame as it is a great route for longer runs.

The P42, AEM7 and Superliners and Amfleets are very nice, just a pity the NEC route isn't up to the same standards.
A bit more beta testing might have been the order of the day. :-?

Scenarios with Superliners won't ever be on the NEC. Superliners in real life can't run on the NEC due not being able to fit under several bridges and all tunnels. Any long distance Amtrak train that uses the NEC uses Viewliner cars instead.

As far as the Genesis engine, they also do not run on the NEC. You may see one occasionally being towed as a deadhead move, or maybe a rare power move but that's really about it.

There are actually four cases where a P42 would look right on the Northeast Corridor as modeled. For a time, Regionals 66 and 67 used a P42 ahead of the AEM-7 from Boston all the way down to Washington and sometimes out to its non-electrified Newport News terminus. http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPictur ... id=2534733
The second, is for Empire Service trains operating north of New York to Albany and beyond. These trains use 700-numbered P32AC-DM to operate off of third rail electric power into New York Penn Station, but the default P42 could provide a plausible stand-in, mostly as a static consist since the Empire Connection isn't modeled in the Railworks NEC.
The third case is the Pennsylvanian. As far as I know, it runs with an AEM-7 as far as Philadelphia then changes to a P42 for the run to Pittsburgh. There has been talk of doing the engine change in Harrisburg, but that'd require either another cab car, or a runaround move by the AEM-7, and moving the equipment base or something like that.
The fourth case, is that sometimes, the engine change for trains going south of Washington is done at Philadelphia for various reasons including power shortages, catenary problems, and power-balancing moves.

I was very excited about driving inside so detailed cab,but surprisingly, the actual driver desk is much darker than in the posted screenshots.
My computer is equipped with eVga GTX 480 video card and running under Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
Thanks.

My only slight observation after a few more miles is that the sound could do with a bit of beefding up. This is supposed to be a grunty GE but it sounds more like a muffled GM at times.

Ahh...

I am wondering whether this product received any sort of beta testing or QA by RSC before they added it to the Steam DLC list.

Last night I encountered one of the "Scenario Failed" messages due to an AI train leaving it's path (I'm assuming this is because the scenario writer pathed it over hand points). Did no one either at the developer or RSC run this scenario to check it and why have we not seen a patch as yet?

It also appears the P42 will not reload as is from a saved scenarios. On each occasion I have reloaded a saved run the train has immediately gone into emergency applying the brakes and putting the direction lever in neutral. You cannot recover until the train has completely stopped and then reset everything. Surely a basic tenet of beta testing anything is how it performs when you reload a saved game. RSC are getting a lot of money for this stuff, it's not freeware and it needs to be right at these prices.

I just hope RW3 gets a modicum of better beta testing than this DLC!!

I'd think it has been well established by now that the only beta testers RS.com have, are their customers (AKA paying beta testers).

Anyone else finding the train brakes take an age to bail off?

That is factually incorrect and a potential breach of the forum guidelines. Please refrain from stating such "facts".

I have had a similar issue. I was traveling under the 110mph speed limit and then the emergency brake tripped.
Please RSC stop rushing and teasing with 'release' dates and etc. I'd wait forever if it means a flawless product.
It seems like quality control went out with the Dictaphone.

I'm the developer of both SanB-Barstow sceanrios. I'm sorry that some of you have problems.
The problem with QA is that this error only occurs on some systems. We've tested it a lot and everytime it ran without problem. It seems to be a random issue.
However, I think I found a fix. Will be released soon on: http://gtraxsims.com/ It will laos be released over Steam when the loco gets an update for RW3.

This is a known issue. It seems that if you press q while reloading a scenario avoids the application of the emergency brake. No fix for this, yet. Sorry.
