Re: can you help
Hi Ray,
Welcome to the Forums and MSTS !
I don't know if you'll find a YouTube video explaining how to download/install one of our files, but if you'd tell us which one you want to install, I'm sure many will be able to help. Just give us the file ID number, please.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: can you help
Hello Ray.
If you want help then you will have to specify what the file id number is rather than a name of a train. Without the id number it becomes a guessing game as to which file you want to download and helping you becomes a lot harder.

Re: can you help
Hi Ray
1. Right-click on the download icon and select a temporary folder (you could create one, or your desktop would do) and save the zip file there.
2. Right click on the newly-downloaded zip file and unzip it, using whatever file decompression program you have installed. This could be either Winzip, Winrar, 7Zip or the Wndows built-in-unzipper. The compressed files need to be extracted to C:\program files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator (assuming you've installed MSTS to its default location). As far as the Class 442 unit itself is concerned, that should be it.
3. However, you also need to install three further files before the 442 will work, as the readme file says. The files you need are:
The third one is the bin patch, available here: http://mstsbin.uktrainsim.com/eng/eng.html . The download is at the foot of the page - I'd recommend using version 1.8.052113, the working release.
4. Ensure you read all the readme files with these three additional items. Try it, see how you get on and come back here if you run into difficulties.

You say your computer won't run the file - what error message do you get?
One idea - try installing this, if you haven't already done so:

As Ash has hinted at, you're going to have to be a little more descriptive as to exactly what the problem is you are having. Simply saying you computer won't run a file is of little help to anyone trying to help you.
What have you done so far...and please describe what you've done? And what are you doing when you hit a problem...and what is the problem? Any error message?
EDIT - my message crossed with your reply...but what I am asking is still valid!

From what you say, it sounds like you do not have the latest (albeit 10 years old now) version of MSTS, without which the bin patch won't install. Download and install all three MSTS V4 upgrades from here (foot of page):
http://msts.steam4me.net/MSTS_Updates/index.html
Then follow the advice already given, and come back here if unsure or you have problems.

Nothing more than I've already mentioned.
How are you getting on with installing the bin patch?
