60163 in current new livery

Post by train »

Hi
Will RSC release an update to There Tornado in the new impressive brunswick livery, having already bought it.Could it be just an update for exsisting
customers.Oh and could they do Flying Scotsman in Black livery also.It seems that the real world of Steam Preservation is ahead of the game, parden the pun.

Thanks

Hi Warwick

Probably the reason for no replies is that no-one knows - you're asking the wrong people really, as only RSC are likely to know what (if anything) they have planned along the lines you suggest.

There's always been some sensitivity about reskinning 60163 as it's an officially licensed version. The headboards and lamps can only be removed by editing files. Shame we can't have a pack of original A1s as they would be popular and we have a suitable default route.

RS.com made hint in a reply on there facebook page to the new livery of Tornado that there is a A1 update or new pack in the future couple of days ago, the other alternative is one could do ones own reskins for tornado and flying scotsman and if you believe there suitable could submit them to RS.com to see if they will publish, but the only thing will be if they did accept they wouldn't be on any kind of priority list.

Both packs I think were made in mind of celebrity status, they are both famous locomotives and to get up close pictures and modelling plans RS.com probably had agreement to do only a specific amount of stuff and keep to specific guidelines aswell, if, as mentioned above RS.com are considering to revisit the addons and extend to to un-named and named of each locomotives class in the there working days then you probably see more leeway for reskins.

I believe if we wait for the big update to come out, especially with the graphical side of that update, you probably see updates to existing packs and from a business standpoint and logical standpoint adding to packs while updating them for the core update would be more feasible aswell as logical. Derek made mention of wanted to update existing stock, so fingers crossed you'll see the new liveries and different varients.

Hi

Ok so would the customers like myself who bought and downloaded Tornado and indeed 4472 have to pay again for the new updates.I certainly would
however as in the Current edition of Steam Railway and indeed on the A1 Trust website Tornado does look better in Brunswick Green,my favorite
colour.I will just have to wait and see

Thanks

I much prefer the dark Green on 163. I wasn't expecting the black to suit scotsman but it looks very smart indeed.

Might be worth checking the manual on Scotsman to see if it mentions reskin policy - the "usual" position of RSC stock being distributable without the shape file may apply. It wouldn't be the hardest skin to do once you get over the torture of getting the right shade of black for the game.

Depends what they decide to do, if they decide to do a full livery addon dlcs to the existing stuff, similar to how the class 86 was released after WCML North came out then probably have to pay, but we won't know to they decide to release further information, I figure the A1 stuff will be quite a far bit away from now, in regards to scotsman, no mention of additional liveries. I still think the best option there would be to try and get a really decent job done on a reskin then ask RS.com if they want to distribute it to all the flying scotsman dlc owners or not.

Received wisdom is that community/freeware repaints of Tornado are not permitted. There is however nothing to indicate any difference in policy between this and any other DLC in the product manuals. Somewhere along the line it has been assumed that the same applies to the Flying Scotsman, though once again I haven't seen anything official from RSC to suggest this.

Regretably this 'black' scheme is only temporary as it will be back to green after the trials are completed and it goes back on the rails!
