NWC enquiry

Post by bharrison »

Hi one and all

I've just become the proud owner of NWC1 & 2 could anyone tell me if there are any patches I need for NWC1 & 2 that are required so I can get them please before I install the route on my laptop so I have everything installed before I play on the route and learn it.

Also what settings in msts are best for this route as I'm aware it's demanding on the resoruces.

thanks
Thank You

Hi.

In the unlikely event that you have not already done it, you will need the official MSTS patch from microsoft, and the MSTS bin patch.

You will also need nwc_patch_3 and nwc_patch_4 which can be downloaded from the "Class 15 Preservation society" website ..............

http://www.d8233.org.uk/msts_nwc2.htm

As for your MSTS settings, that depends entirely on you own PCs spec, it's best to experiment with the settings until you get a setting that works best on your system.

If you have a fairly modern laptop with a dedicated graphics card fitted (not on board graphics) it should work OK on your normal settings.
Regards
Mark.

NWC 2 contains patch 7 so you shouldn't need to install any patches, just install NWC and then NWC2.

Hi Ben,
I wouldn't have thought it's anything to do with the NWC routes!
Is it all locos?
What about locos on other routes?

Cheers,
Ged

The brakes have been set up so they act as realistically as possiable. You have two really wack them on to slow down, and then they wont stop quickly! Are you sure your putting enough brake on?

Could you guys reccomend an activity for me to start of with to learn this route?

one starting at the holyhead end of the line using a type 2 diesel or a DMU.

and a one from personal experience to try out.

Ben

Your Bin patch mem setting needs to be 1024 - MSTS will not use more than this.

Hi Jim,
That remark is not called for remember a lot of us have paid you and your group a lot of money that you wouldn't have got to wards the cost of the restoration project, some even bought the route just for that reason, now you all seem to be throwing it in our face, just because you all have got bored.

I can see the same ting happening with the restoration will it ever run? or will it be a case of I'm bored with this, and give up and it will be left half finised.

Getting back on topic, I'd recommend anything that goes up/down the Blaenau branch. It is certainly a challenge keeping to the speed limits especially in the tunnel on the approach to Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Other than that I can't really comment on the activities included as they are all a little too "prehistoric" for my personal tastes!
