Wow.. I was looking for this thread to see what else people were saying and surprised to see it's buried on page two. A super realistic kettle is coming out and no anticipation or excitement? :-?

Interest will ebb off to there is a release date unfortunately, with all the features and things Pete has added, RS.com will be "testing" it for abit while bombarding us with pictures and previews like they did with the feature intensive 156, so it could be a few weeks off, who knows. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind them making sure its ready for release with proper testing, but for the most part Pete's had large tester team and generally it doesn't alleviate people's want for a release when RS.com posters on there facebook do posts with screenshots of DLC packs due for release which look more like playing with said DLC rather than testing for candidate release.

Sorry if it this post puts abit of a dampener on the subject, just a bug bear with releases as of late which has become abit more predominate than in the past.

I am proud to consider myself a friend of several of those folks currently testing the loco, and I can assure you they are taking it very seriously, not just "playing", but rather struggling to ensure that the final version of the engine is simply the best possible representation of a steam locomotive ever created for RW. Their level of expertise is, believe me, more than appropriate for ensuring the utmost technical accuracy of the project.

Yep.. Testing is playing. I mean, even repaints, you're in and out of the game a hundred times checking and rechecking..

So, if I'm understanding this correctly, RSC shouldn't take 2 seconds to hit CTRL-S while testing? Because that = Goofing off and doing nothing?

Just tell me, especially with scenarios, when you must replay everything from scratch right after changing a simple detail... :)

Or making wagons, where you need to re-export etc. which can take up to 10-15 minutes with a minor change to shaders!

Hm, they haven't quite got the idea of cylinder cocks right :p
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

I don't think the cylinder cocks being left open would "blow up" the engine. If they were closed and not opened on the other hand...

Maybe they want to surprise users with a great "bang!" :evilbat: during their first run.

I thought one of the ideas of 'proper' cylinder cocks was that there was going to be 'priming' if you didn't release the excess water or is that what is being shown when they are opened when stopped?
