How to precisely rotate objects in the world editor?
Sometimes I want precisely adjust the rotation angle of objects in the world editor, but it's hard to control using keyboard command or mouse moving.
Are there any way to control the rotation precisely?

I find that the keyboard controls can be quite precise on rotation but I see your point when at times you need that little extra to line up two faces, for example, that need to be very close to each other and pointing exactly in the same direction.
You could try adjusting the co-ordinates in the object information window but that does not help with rotation. Other than that I do not know any way to precisely rotate, you just need to tap the keyboard keys to move a tiny amount each time until you get close to what you want.

Or just copy and paste the first object, since the rotational angle (or whatever you want to call it) will be the same.

You probably already knew this but you can hold the shift button while dragging to slow down movement and rotation

This does not work when using the keyboard thoughlinuxbot wrote:You probably already knew this but you can hold the shift button while dragging to slow down movement and rotation

I don't know where the location of objects is stored, but you could probably just manually edit the translation matrix if you needed it that accurate - provided someone knows where that stuff is saved, at least.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

Please have a look into the RW Creator Manual_Web.pdf, Page 13: G and F Rotates the selected object clockwise and anticlockwise
You will find this (and more) in ...\railworks\Manuals\EN.

Holding down Shift in conjunction with the F or G key will significantly slow down object rotation. Holding down Ctrl in conjunction with those keys will rotate the object in ten degree incrementsbfgghy wrote:Sometimes I want precisely adjust the rotation angle of objects in the world editor, but it's hard to control using keyboard command or mouse moving.

This does not work for me. Using the Shift or Control key in conjunction with the F or G Key results in no movement at all. Pressing either key quickly on its own rotates the object by a small amount though.

How very odd, Geoff; holding down shift noticeably reduces the speed of rotation for me

My keyboard goes through a hopper device for multi-computer operation using one monitor, one keyboard and one mouse. It is possible that all the features of the keyboard are not getting through this set up.FoggyMorning wrote:How very odd, Geoff; holding down shift noticeably reduces the speed of rotation for me![]()

That's a bit of a downer for you then.
As I've said previously I always use the mouse/gizmo/shift key combo to place scenery and don't use the keyboard shortcuts at all. But that's just me.
