A while ago I recollect someone asking if there was a guide to speed limits according to track radius. While browsing around the other day I found a page on this site:

If you scroll down a bit there is a chart which gives the maximum speed according to curvature. Interesting to compare these with the previous information I found which basically said the speed in km/h on none canted track is arrived through dividing the radius by 5, e.g. a 200m radius curve would have a speed limit of 40km/h (or 25 MPH).
Incidentally the whole site is a wealth of information, particularly the gradient profiles and track plans of current and long closed routes - a resource we could only dream of for UK or US rail lines.

I agree - a great resource.
