Stereo sounds wrong?

Post by icornish »

I'm driving any train, and in chase view (2), just behind the engine, if I'm right above it, it's ok, but if I go to one side, say the left, I would expect the engine roar to be higher in my right ear. In my case, it's the left ear. I've only just noticed this because I've been forced to use a headset by SWMBO.
Simple solution in my case - swap the head set around!

Chasing from the front, it sounds fine...

Is it just me?

Practically, in external (2) view it shouldn't be louder in either ear as it is directly ahead at all times.

I think you just had your headset the wrong way around and now you've got it correct. Or you had it the correct way originally but your sound card software has the left/right channels swapped so the correct orientation of your headphones was effectively wrong. I've got not problems here, I can even tell the difference switching from driver position to fireman position in a steam locomotive.
