Telegraph Wires

Post by oap70 »

I have been enjoying RailWorks for a couple of years but recently became aware that on some of the UK routes with telegraph poles there were no wires between them. I could have sworn that they used to be visible, although I must confess that I am approaching an age where senile dementia could become a problem!
RW_Tools informs me that there are no missing assets so perhaps I am mistaken.
Telegraph wires do appear on the US routes.
Please tell me that I am not going mad!

The US routes use a large model which includes a row of several poles with wires between them. A couple of the poles lean at a distinctive angle, reflecting the poor state of infrastructure maintenance in the isolated regions US railways often traverse.

The same model is used in one or two UK routes as well. Other routes might have standalone poles.
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.

I've been using these which have been kindly made available as freeware. If you find any missing poles when you loft them alongside the track then select them and lower slightly. Use the gradient tool to lower them if you find them a bit on the tall side for the UK

If you're into US stuff at all the payware is excellent IMHO
