Failed to Load Trackbase

I have just attempted to download and install the Brum route.
However, when I try to create an activity, I get the same message 'Failed to load Trackbase'.
Does anyone know what I am missing or where I'm going wrong?
I have installed Finescale and XTracks.

Hi Alan, have you tried to run any of the Activities for the Route, from my pure guess work until you do MSTS will
not create any Terrain Buffers and so it is not a complete Route and hence your error message.
Try and run an Activity and see if it loads and is o.k. and then try and create a new Activity and see if it has cured
the problem.

I think Bris-Brum works with both, but some routes may not.

I have tried both of the previous answers.
The first problem is that the' Brum' route does not appear in the Activity editor so I can't create anything.
Secondly, whenever i try to run the route through Route Riter, it just comes up eith the error message 'Not responding'.
Just to summarize, I hope I have done the right things.
I downloaded the Bris-Birm route and the patch in a New Folder with New Roads and Finescale, then transferred the lot into Routes.
Is there an error there, by chanve?

Now I'm tired after another period working away from home, and hence my brain is less than efficient, but did you copy the files into the ROUTES folder, or did you install them into Train Simulator. Now I haven't looked at this route but I assume that the installation process is required to get all the necessary global stuff?

If I'm making a fool of myself, I won't be embarrased as it's par for the course!

Hi Alan

Did you copy Newroads and Finescale into your routes folder?

They need installing into your global folder to work, (just follow the installation instructions that comes with them)

Well, I thought I had.
i was able to create a couple of activities but when I tried to run them, I got two 'new' error messages.
'a clean track missing' and 'header tape.'
Never heard of either.
Can anyone shed any light on them?

Full message please! is that xxxxxxx.ace or xxxxxxxx.s?

header tape.

Again is that the full/correct message.
At a guess that means the route name in the activity file and the actual route name is different. Has the route been renamed for any reason?

Yes I did rename the route as it was coming up Brum then BtoB then BTB so I cancelled the first and second and left it as BTB

Hi Alan,
It looks like a file has avoided copying when you ran the installme.bat in the BTB route especially as you renamed it.
Simple answer re run the installme.bat file.

Or look in Train Simulator (Your Location)\ ROUTES\EUROPE1\Textures
and copy/paste the ACleanTrack1.ace file there into Train Simulator (Your Location)\ ROUTES\BTB\Textures

I found this from Dear Laurie:-

There are a lot of threads on this subject, but the consensus seems to be that it is caused by a missing or corrupt "ACleanTrack1.ace" and / or "ACleanTrack2.ace". Another possiblility suggested was the use of trainstore. Try those and if they dont help, do a search as there were lots of threads on the subject.

So it is possible the two errors are linked. Fix the acleantrack1.ace first and see how the route runs.

If you still get the "failed to initialize heading tape" error come back and we'll have another look.

Also it will not hurt you to 'Unstore Everything' with Train Store, to 'reset' the Train Store Storage files. Because you have moved your MSTS install away from Program Files haven't you?

I have followed everyone's suggestions/instructions and the error messages regarding AClean Track and heading tape don't show any more.

HOWEVER, I now get literally hundreds of error messages in the form of
Failed to open texture file routes Bris-brum\textures\ukfs.track1ace
or pillars,

or sleepers,
and so on
Shall I just forget the whle thing?

Incidentally, although it has been mentioned a couple of times, there ins NO Installme.bat file in my route.
