Is it worth getting?
I bought Rail Simulator in 2008, enjoyed it, felt it was a bit bare though. I knew Railworks had come out a year or 2 ago but never bothered to get it because it looked way too similiar to Rail Simulator! Is it worth paying the money for this now? I had a look on Steam the other day and it seems that there really isn't many routes for the game, that was the problem I found with Rail Sim too. I know MSTS is way outdated now but at least that has quite a few routes you can buy and install.

There's a fair bit of stuff around for RW, though you will need to be prepared to invest in a bit of payware both in its own right and to run many of the freeware routes out there. So far as the future is concerned, I divide my time between TS2010 and RW but it's fair to say that Rail Simulator is obsolete so far as development is concerned and any routes I do end up issuing will be on the "new" platform.
Re: Is it worth getting?
Quite a number of add-ons are available now, both freeware and payware. The base Sim is not very expensive, just wait till a good offer occurs on Steam. I think the sim has been improved quite a lot. A bit better user interface, much better stability and now a quite good scenario editor. For me it is worth the investment, though even now still a lot should be improved and I am not a fan of the new driving console.Andy20 wrote:I bought Rail Simulator in 2008, enjoyed it, felt it was a bit bare though.
